Your dish was either out of alignment or obscured by natural obstructions (trees, hills etc), as with a 60cm dish I have always had close to 100% signal/quality. Despite any rain
Agree – my dish is a Mark 3 Zone 2, but my neighbour has a Mark 4 Zone 1 I set up for him and gets very similar readings. 100/100 on all UK spot beams.
Yes it’s quite a hilly island and I could find nowhere I could site the dish which gave a fully clear line of sight. I tried on a pole but it wasn’t practical with what I had to stop it swaying about in the wind. I spent almost 2 days trying different places so ended up with what worked usually. Couldn’t afford a lot at the time. We did have a freeview box but we only got around 15 channels including radio in the area with it.
I had occasion to run a twin feed one with RG6 and the other WF100. RG6 decremented the signal strength from almost 100% on the WF feed by around 5% at worst. So unless your RG6 has a fault in it changing to WF is, IMHO, not going to dramatically fix your problem. It might do if your signal was on a low threshold, but from what you say you are getting a good signal on your other box.
As you have probably gathered the only thing I haven’t changed is the cable so rather than using RG6 I thought I might just as well use WF100 both for making a small increase in signal and maybe more important screening. Obviously if here is a fault on the current cables that will fix it anyway.
When I can get some boards up in my loft I will switch off the duff inverter so that may also be the way to cure my problem.
If neither solve the problem I will be completely stumped. Unless I sell up and move somewhere else

hi i am having the same problem since i accepted the latest up grade.its nothing to do with the dish or box connections.
eg i cant get bbc2 it said signal not strong enough yet i can get bbc 2 hd, bbc1 ok cant get bbc1 hd cant get lot of channels but can get on demand.
when i look at the settings signal info i can see that the signal strengths fluctuate, and tuner one has been dropping out.
this problem has started since the last update.
lets hope humax gets it sorted soon
wizard, if it was anything to do with the last upgrade you would see a lot of posts here.
Suggest you check the F-connectors are well fitted on the cables and look for signs of water ingression in the cables (both ends).
The recent upgrade had nothing to do with the tuners or the satellite side of things, so seems very unlikely to be the issue. It certainly made no difference at all to my reception. It’s solely about improved IP delivered content.

On one of the channels that is an issue on the Humax box, how does the indicated signal strength and quality compare with the one that is stable ?
on bbc1 which works i have 50% signal strength, and quality good,
on other channels that do not work tuner 1 has no signal then it will come on for a while.
i cant take readings from my other box which is a zegmma-star 2s

That most definetely is not a Freesat box, it’s a generic FTA box. Never seen a generic box that does not have a mode you can see the signal strength and quality on. Without this it would be near impossible to align a dish.
Freesat boxes have the full epg, guessing this one has just now/next programme info at best,
At a guess the dish alignment is so marginal a slight difference in tuner sensitivity is working on one box and not the other.
Without the above info it,s hard to help. A quick look at the manual shows the box has manual tune, you need the transponder details to check the reception. Without knowing which BBC 1 region you have tuned it’s not possible to identify the parameters you need. You may be looking at a totally different region your postcode gives you on the Freesat box.
All the BBC 1 SD regions are on the epg, have you looked at all of them ?

I agree it’s not the update to your Humax box both my boxes are Humax but the old one does not get updates as it’s too old. The last time it was updated was 2012. The new box was updated as soon as I got it a couple of weeks ago. The both have the same problem when in the living room but neither has it in the conservatory.

It looks like I was wrong about the Inverter. I put flooring in my loft yesterday and turned the Inverter off. Since then we have had no video/audio dropout. I did work my way through most of the transponder strength/quality readings and will try to find time to create a pdf to upload today then I will take your advice in fine tuning the dish/LNB’s.

On satellite you get all the BBC1 SD regions. The postcode you enter when setting up a Freesat box puts your local region at 101. You can move any of the regions to 101 using customised channels.
The other box simply adds channels in the order you scan them in. You should have all the BBC regions, which one you are watching is a matter of luck or by looking at the station SID you can tell which it is or by checking what local news you get.
