When you go to play a recorded series, that it goes to the oldest recording in the series and not the newest as it does at present.
Now you mention it, that is quite an irritating feature.
Not if you’re following a breaking news story and have a dozen recordings labelled only: “Sky News”, “Headline News”, and “News Live”.
The useless “recorded programs” dialogue displays no time or even date unless you highlight an individual recording, so it’s as well to have the most recent at the top.
Ideally, of course, the user should be able to select how the list is ordered.
Yes, but that is different.
We are taking about an actual series where there may be half a dozen unwatched recordings for the same title (a drama series for example).
When you select the title in the recorded programmes list you get a list down the left hand side which always highlights the most recent recording (the one which would play if you do not change it) when the sensible thing would be to highlight the oldest which is the most likely one that many people would want to watch.

InactiveBarry.
Are Humax Towers aware of this thread? It might be a good idea if they were.

Of course it’s different. You’re talking about a drama series and I’m talking about a series of news broadcasts. But that’s the only difference and it’s utterly irrelevant to the point of this discussion.
Both news bulletins and drama series are ordered in a temporally significant sequence that logically requires playback to begin with the earliest or latest recording, depending upon the content and certain other factors. Therefore, as I said before, the user should be able to select how the list is ordered.
It isn’t rocket-science.

InactiveTo be fair I think most of these problems are not the fault of Humax, the bulk of the programming is written by Linux.
However Humax should be complaining like crazy to Linux, all this is causing lost sales … and money.

Linux is a open source operating system (available for free). Windows is an operating system that your PC is likely to be running. It’s not a software writing company or any other sort of company. Originally invented by one man.

LOL! Linux is an operating system, so you use a programming language to write the code under the umbrella of the Linux OS. Very similar to the way you write your wholly incorrect post in English within the umbrella of this forum.
The code belongs to the Freeview Consortium who then provide it to Humax who load it onto their hardware running Linux. In my view a wholly stupid business model, but that’s another topic.

The software on the FVP-5000T will be comprised of three main components: the Linux kernel, a number of Open Source packages and a piece of proprietary software written by Humax. I would very much doubt that any of the issues with box are to do with problems in the standard kernel code although as Humax do make modifications to the kernel, a few problems could be present in those changes. I would suggest the vast majority of issues are in the Humax written code.

InactiveLOL … does anyone use lol anymore
All really helpful stuff chaps.
I do not really care whether it is code written by Linux, Freeview, Humax or the little man in quasi moon kernal.
It does not work … someone put it right

You seem to be right on with social norms in forums. Perhaps some investment in understanding the subject of your posts would be helpful.

InactiveI will add another one …
The remote, like all Humax remotes, is terrible.
The RC buttons often have to be pressed multiple times to get it to register.

Why do you think all Humax remotes are terrible? I am happy with the remote for the HDR-FOX T2 which is still giving good service after 7 years.

Which model remote control do you have? I have no problems with the RM-L03 supplied with my box.

InactiveWell … Brian & Martin … you must have some very special rc units … and you should look after them with very special care.

InactiveOporus, it Just may be that you are a bit unlucky with your remote control.
Ours came with our 5000t and it works just fine.
Also, a friend of ours is very happy with the remote that came with her 4000t.
