InactiveHi, here are the hard disk settings first:
Available size: 496.4 GB
Used size: 369.7 GB
Reserved size: 65.5 GB
Total size: 931.5 GB
Then there is Start disk clean up and Start disk format, you can tell me if you think I should use one. I’m not bothered about wiping the recordings.
Now I will follow your other instructions! Thanks

InactiveLooked at your instructions – these are all the things I normally do. Tested recording now and it worked, and it is also taping a pre-programmed one. But this doesn’t solve that most ones I programmed don’t get recorded. Or if they do, they stop after 30 mins. QUite random. Do you think I should wipe the hard disk?

Which channel or channels do get the problems with ? Some do not have accurate recording capability. Setting a manual recording for these with some built in padding should work.
Post an upcoming programme and I will set a manual recording and post how to do this.

InactiveTonight at 10pm Channel 4: Kathy Burke – Money talks. Interestingly, I set it last night to record this and it’s NOT in the Planned Recordings list. Done it again just now, pressing Record from the programmes list for tonight – still not appear on the Planned menu.
A second example is today at 2.30 on Sky Arts: Portrait artist of the Year, which IS in my Planned list for a repeat recording, but never records. I don’t pay for Sky, but I have this one channel and it always recorded before.
All these problems started a month ago, no problems before. We did have a power cut around then, could that have affected it?
Could you also tell me how to wipe the disk if nothing works please?
Thanks so much

ParticipantTo Format the Hard Drive
Home-settings-System Setting – HDD – Start Disk Format. You will need to enter the pin (default is 0000)

InactiveBefore doing it as it’s such an extreme thing do you think it will fix the problem? (Kathy Burke recored 39 of 60 mins last night)
Many thanks

InactiveI seem to be having a similar problem, I have reformatted the hard disk, do you think they has been a recent software update. Previously I have had no problems Software UKSFAA 3.00.98. Recordings are fine and all of a sudden playback stops halfway through.

There are other ways of checking the file system on a Linux disk. In your case it would mean removing the disk and connecting into a PC booted into linux and running the OS built in disk fix and repair disk errors.
However it’s clear you do not have the basic capability to
1 install a linux distro boot capability to your PC.
2 Remove the drive from your Humax box and run the linux disk check and repair capability.
In this case your only option would seem to be a full hard disk format.
Without the above info. i have no idea if it will fix the problem.
However other than deleting all your existing recordings it should not affect even your recording schedule . The software and recording schedule are stored separately in non volatile read only memory (NVRAM).
In fact if you get a failed hard disk and install a new one. Your recording schedule is still there.

A bit late now. Please post which Humax box you have and the recording issues you have.
Based on your reply I wiil ask more questions on Sunday.
We both meed to set the same recording and compare software version to check outcome and timing. TBH my G2-HDR-1000S currently only used to serve live content to second TV.

InactiveHI Graham, you seem to be replying to old posts of mine on this thread. The most recent is that I have formatted the hard disk and it has not solved the problem. I get partial recordings (some as little as 2 mins) and others programmed where it just says Error in the recordings list. I have had the box aabout 13 years with n o problems, recording every day. I am at my wit's end with this, does it mean the box is finished?? I have given the box number before, the photo is attached again. I don't know how or where to find the software information.
