I was tuning channel 29 as per the table on uk free tv’s website. I’ll try 58 but last time I tuned it was automatic full smart tune and it didn’t pick it up.

I have concerns about the smart tune; I suggest if you still have problems after a smart tune then try tuning again with the smart option off.

I’m only 5 miles from the transmitter so shouldn’t have signal problems.

You won’t have problems due to the signal being too low but you could have problems due to the signal strength being too high. What is the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax?

    77 strength, 100 quality

So do I. I’d say it is anything but smart. The intention is good – to keep your recording schedule if possible. Unfortunately, the last time I used it I found my channels were mangled. It was so smart most of my channels switched to another, weaker, transmitter.

Update after retune (not smart!) on 12th August. Paramount network is now available on Freeview 31, not that I’ll be watching it much. I was surprised to see BBC4 and Quest disappear from the HD lists. Something to do with no signal now on Winter Hill channel 55; any idea if and when it will be broadcast again?

That is pretty much an ideal signal strength.

According to comments elsewhere, COM7 (Ch 55) never went off during the Winter Hill retune last night and should still be operating as it was yesterday.

Manual retune of just 55 needed?

No signal on channel 55 at the moment, checking antenna feed later.

Strange, I can tune my Toshiba smart tv to channel 55 from Winter Hill but the FVP-5000T shows no signal for the same channel.

Fixed it using the well recommended method of switching it off, unplugging from mains, plugging back in after 30 seconds and restarting. Channel 55 found and manual tune restored the missing Freeview channels.

The box had done a software update prior to this so I suspect that was something to do with it.

If the software update happened, you should find that the catchup services like My5 are now working much as they should.

Good to hear you have fixed COM7.

I have been having problems with BBC4 HD not showing programme information for some time, then recently it has sometimes reported No Signal. Checking the signal strength shows that the signal strength is 0, even though all the other channels are fine. It’s obviously a problem with COM7, so I did as suggested above and did a manual retune of channel 55 (I’m on Winter Hill). Result – no channels found.

    Any suggestions?

When you retuned, did you set the “Transmission” type to DVB-T2 for channel 55? If you enter your details at https://www.freeview.co.uk/corporate/platform-management, then look in the COM7 HD section, What is the value in the column with an “S” as its header for the “Now” row?

    Yes I switched to T2. It’s 55 under N and 35 under S.

Using 35 I got a full retune but still no signal on COM7.

Sorry, I misread the chart. The number under S is 96, which is presumably something to do with signal strength, so very good.

So why am I getting zero signal on COM7 ? Very strange.
