Other than just trying it, is there any way of knowing whether my signal is marginal, or not?
What does your Youview box say your signal strength and quality is ? Do you ever get picture breakup (pixellation) ?

InactiveSignal strength seems to be between 65-70% (depending on the channel).
Signal quality 100%.
What do you think?

I think it will work OK. As they only cost £2.00 or £3.00 you might as well just try one out.

InactiveDo you know where best to get a splitter from, then? Is there a specific spec or set of features I should be looking for?

Any uhf splitter will do the job. Have you a screwfix locally ?
Or a toolstation

E-bay
You will need some screw on f connectors for the above (supplied on the e-bay link.
The metal case ones are better quality than the plastic ones.
Maplin do one with Belling Lees but as usual they are very expensive

InactiveLooks a bit complex! What are the screw fixings on the side of the splitter box for; are you supposed to screw it to the wall?
Wouldn’t something like this do the job, as it seems simpler:

It’s so you can screw it to a wall (you don’t have too). It makes a neat installation. These are used by professional installers.
The item you link to is likely to have significantly higher losses than a decent one and is probably poorly screened. You can try one but if it causes issues it doesn’t mean that a decent splitter won’t do the job.
