ModeratorWelcome to our Forum Geoff:-)
A factory reset will not delete recordings if you do not select the format HDD option, but it will delete your schedule so make a note of your timers.
Is your unit displaying the network connection as OK?

InactiveThanks for the replies. Tried a ‘power reboot’, that had no effect.
Will try Factory reset tomorrow when I have more time.
Yes, the unit is displaying the necessary network connection.
Will contacting Humax support have any effect?

Did you agree to the terms and conditions during set up?

InactiveI’ve agreed to Humax T&C but that doesn’t explain why they don’t load
after a reboot but try again and they do, I’ve only experienced this
a few times out of rebooting every couple of days (some days twice) since purchase. (The youtube app doesn’t load either)

Have you tried the factory reset ? Till you do, which may well fix the problem there’s no point in making further suggestions.
If the problem persists, this thread may help.

InactiveHi
I did try that not long after I had it but not since the new software
update.
Regarding the channel logos post you pointed to, I have said in a previous
post that the channel logos disappear from my recordings list, but randomly,
it’ll have say, on first few recordings ‘BBC1, CH4, ITV’ etc then blank boxes then the next few will be populated again.

Some say that a reset is a good idea after every software update. It’s certainly the first thing to try after a software update produces results not generally found by others.
I have seen this a few times, but it was generally a remote server issue. In this case no current issues with my 5000T. The overnight housekeeping is known to delete the cached epg, this delays the epg appearing on the first boot. No idea if this affects the on-demand services which are of course IP delivered. It’s possible booting the box first thing in the morning for 15 mins is also sorting out on demand (pure speculation).

InactiveI’ve just carried out a factory reset. (1pm 6/1/18)
Lets see if it’s more stable.
I’ve never had a problem with the EPG populating (except the back epg.)
It’s one of the better improvements over my old 9150 which could take hours
or days to fill, (that had software problems on release that took ages to sort if I recall correctly, mine used to lock up)

After the first boot the epg is cached so loads instantly. On the first boot of the day it takes approx 4 mins or so to populate from the channel you happen to be tuned to. You can watch it happen. Try booting the box on the first day with the aerial removed, you will find a blank epg. Shut down and replace the aerial now boot again and leave the box on for say 5 minutes. Shut down again and boot with aerial removed, epg is fully populated. Do you use recording padding ?

InactiveHi
No, I don’t use padding, it used to disrupt series link so never used it,
to date with this unit, all timer recordings have been complete.
The only thing I’ve noticed is recording BBC4 it shows as broken recording
even though the recording has been successful , can only think this is because 4 isn’t broadcast 24/7

It’s a known issue with the first recording on the switch to the part time channel, Barry reported that Humax towers is aware.
I take it that if you playback the recording till the picture appears and then stop, the broken icon is replaced by a frame thumbnail from the broadcast ?
I have seen this on other broadcasts (Barry couldn’t replicate). Tipping Point on ITV-HD for example. no problem really, the recording always works.

InactiveHi
The channel ID box is fine (when it’s there!) it’s the RH side recording icon, where it says ‘NEW’ and the > (play button) symbol it has what looks like a Cassette broken in two.
Page 21 has it ‘failed recording’
As you say, not a problem as the recording is fine.

If you play back the recording as I posted till the no signal message disappears the broken icon should be replaced wherever you are viewing it.

InactiveHi
To be honest I’ve never looked, once I’ve watched something I normally
erase it.
