Hi Graham,
No Problem, I don’t think it’s possible to mislead me, when I have no idea where I’m going Ha Ha.
I tried Videoredo TVsuite 5 but it wasn’t any faster (on my PC) than AVC.
I’ll let you know how I get on with the PS4 when I’ve tried it (I think my son is coming round on Monday Evening.
Regards,
Paul
VRD TV Suite is brilliant for removing ads from recordings. It only recodes at cuts so is lightning fast. In this case the whole file needs to be re-coded. It took about 1.5 hrs to re-code a 1H 40 min movie on my fast CORE I7 laptop with a 2TB C: fast SSD Windows drive.
It boots Windows 10 in about 5 seconds.
Problem with most games consoles is they generally only support FAT32 formatted drives. FAT32 has a individual file size limit of 1 byte less than 4GB, so Gone With The Wind is a no no

My grandson has an X-Box I have to keep a Fat32 pen drive so he can use it.
What’s Fie System on the USB device you are using to playback from ?

InactiveHi Graham,
I’ll have to reformat my stick (it’s NTFS at the moment) so as you say, no Gone with the Wind.
I’ve got two versions of a file to test, one at 24fps and one that I recoded to 50fps.
There is a light aircraft flying through the opening scenes and at 24, it goes by in a series of jerks, at 50 it’s really smooth.
Both play the same on my PC, which is a bit annoying.
Regards,
Paul

Doesn’t your PC have HDMI out ?

InactiveHave you tried installing Plex Media Server on your PC and Plex Player (from the LG app store)? This way you can stream directly from your computer to to your TV.

No HDMI on it, it’s an HP “all in one” nothing much in the way of ports, just network, USB’s and speaker.

I can stream from my NAS Drive to the LG, would using Plex improve the situation?

InactivePossibly, you may even find that there is a version of Plex specific to your NAS drive.
Before I moved house, I had all my media files on my dual Xeon workstation that acted as a Plex server for everyone in the house, with Plex installed on all their various devices. Never had any problems. Nowadays I have no need for this so the drive is in a high end Android box connected directly to the TV and I use Kodi.

I have looked at installing Plex on my WD MyCloud NAS, but there are loads of different versions of Plex for WD and I couldn’t see one that sounded like it matched mine.

InactiveIs there not an interface (on the WD) you can access via your PC, that shows you any available software (hopefully including the specific version of Plex) you can use?
My Cloud Home?

Hi,
Thanks for the info, but mine is a fairly old single bay WD NAS and I found a page on their web site that says I can’t install third party stuff on my Drive.
Looks like I’m stuck on that one.

Paul

WOW! that looks complicated, I’d be terrified of “Bricking” my Drive, I think I’ll give it miss, but many thanks for finding it for me.

InactiveIf you convert it to another format and run it, it should work fine. Or maybe the video is damaged, this happens, but very rarely. Or try to convert the video to the same format twice.

InactivePerhaps you are right, and this problem is due to the fact that the video may be corrupted. But usually the braking is not due to video damage, most likely there was a small failure when recording video and the frame rate changed. By the way, what software do you use to convert videos?
October 31, 2021 at 1:56 am #90374Anonymous
InactiveI used an online video converter until I had to convert rare formats such as MXF, M2T and others. Faced with these formats for conversion, I used to the movavi video converter program is also quite convenient, converts video quickly. There is a free version, 500 formats are available for conversion in the paid version, 24 in the free version, but this is enough for an ordinary user.
