InactiveHi Wots Goinon!
I have got the same problem, iPlayer worked fine then:
“Incorrect Link”
“The Link is currently not available”
every time we try to use iPlayer.
Despite the Network Connections reporting that all is well – until we try to use OD.
I have spoken to Humax on 0844 669 8800 and they have offered to replace the box!!! I told them about this thread and they seemed to be unaware.
Please continue to keep us up-to-date with your progress and I will do likewise.

InactiveHi ChrisRD
Thanks for reporting the same problem. I am surprised and more than a little disappointed by the response you got from Humax after what they had said to me in their email. I had got the impression that Humax staff follow this forum. My 1000S was already a replacement from the retailer.
I have not been following this for a while but there has obviously not been any progress. I will post something if anything changes. Meanwhile we crowd round the PC for iPlayer.

InactiveHaving moved-on from Sky, I’ve used the “Sky dongle” too (specifically the Sky Wireless Connector that “gives you the freedom to access On Demand without wires”) but received only the “Incorrect Link” message.
The same message came when directly linking my BT Hub 3 with the Humax, using an Ethernet cable, making me yet another disappointed new customer with an HDR-1000S (and a broadband speed in excess of 2Mbps) unable – and I quote Page 24 of the manual – to “enjoy the On Demand services on freesat”.
Is some configuration necessary with the BT Hub 3 to enable the Humax to pick up the On Demand services from BBC and ITV? Is anyone able to advise whether the Homeplug Adapters illustrated in the manual, together with the BT Hub 3, would possibly work more effectively than the “Sky dongle” – a product dedicated to accessing On Demand services?
Is Humax continuing working “to resolve this issue as soon as possible” and has anyone with an HDR 1000S managed to access the On Demand services? I’m sure that an increasing number of users of this product would welcome an update.

ParticipantA humax box is never going to work with a Sky WiFi dongle. It doesn’t have the required drivers. There are some that will work that have the required chipset. A pair of homeplug adaptors should work fine (no driver required).

InactiveThanks for your kind comments. Elsewhere I have already been advised as to the potential benefit of taking the route you suggest, which now looks to be the favourite when (or is it if?) the HDR 1000S becomes capable of producing the On Demand services from the BBC and ITV.
Nonetheless, effectiveness aside, a non-technical guy like me would be tempted to argue that two plugs sitting in wall sockets (and wires coming from them) offer a less tidy arrangement than a dedicated USB ‘dongle’ in the back of the Humax. Does anyone have experience of these alternatives to share with us?

The box already has the ITV and BBC catch up services (CH4 and 5 are coming soon).
For suitable dongles see this thread

InactiveI have today received the TP-Link TL-PA211KIT 200 Mbps Mini Powerline Ethernet Adapter Homeplug AV Twin Pack (ordered on the web on Saturday afternoon) and after a quick and easy installation, using the two Homeplugs and the two supplied Ethernet cables, I was soon watching problem-free reception of both the BBC iPlayer and the ITV iPlayer. I am grateful for the comments and the advice received on this forum and will watch the many and varied threads with continuing interest. Kind regards.

InactiveI have been busy on other things and left this problem on the back burner. I am glad to see that mfcmfc managed to fix his issue using the same kind of homeplug that I have. Unfortunately even with the last firmware update I still cannot get iPlayer or any of the on-demand services. I will try to call Humax again to see if they have made any progress on this problem, which they said they were looking at in January. I wondered if ChrisRD ever got his box fixed or replaced?

Inactivewotsgoinon – Has the HDR-1000S acquired a IP address? (Settings – System Info – Network)
Your routers DHCP server is enabled?
Is Showcase complete?
March 28, 2013 at 7:51 pm #41549Anonymous
InactiveHi REPASSAC, thank you for your questions.
Yes, the HDR-1000S has got an IP address and I can ping it from my PC.
Yes, the router LAN Status DHCP server is enabled.
Strangely, Showcase is blank now. Before the last firmware upgrade I could see programmes in Showacase and also ‘earlier’ in the Guide. The latter is blank now too.
I still get the ‘Great, you are connected’ message but thats it.
Any ideas?

InactiveShowcase being blank is a pointer to a problem with internet connectivity.
Clearly your LAN connection (to the PC anyway) is good so I would suspect either of the following:
1. Incorrect gateway.
2. Misconfigured DNS server on your network.
I assume your PC has connectivity so open a command window (run cmd.exe) and enter: ipconfig /all
look for the setting for the lan connection you are using (you could have both a ethernet socket and a wifi connection) and compare the settings on the HDR-1000S – post the settings for both units (Only IP, subnet mast, DNS and default gateway needed).
Silly question but both the HDR-1000S and your PC are connected to your router?

InactiveHi REPASSAC,
Grandchildren have gone home now. Back on the case…
I am not sure if I have captured exactly what you asked for as the ‘ipconfig /all’ command result did not produce as clear a result as I expected in terms of the information you requested. but ipconfig with no parameter gave me the following data for the PC:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : tiscali.co.uk
IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2
subnet mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
default gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1
The Network Information as displayed on the HDR-1000S is as follows.
Connection Type DHCP
IP address 192.168.1.3
Netmask 255.255.255.0
Gateway address 192.168.1.1
Primary DNS 192.168.1.1
There is no such thing as a silly question. Both the HDR-1000S and the PC are connected to my router.
Question: Would you expect the Humax box to appear in the ‘View Computers and Devices’ display on the PC? It doesn’t on mine although it does show on the router Lan status display as below.
DHCP Server Active IP/MAC Table
IP Address Mac Address Lease Time(Sec) Host Name
192.168.1.2 00:1d:09:75:30:7d 0:21:35:53 Home-PC
192.168.1.3 dc:d3:21:c6:7a:c3 0:21:38:08 d37
Please let me know if there is anything else I can look at.
I really appreciate your interest in this problem.

Inactivewotsgoinon – All your settings appear fine – so if your PC can access the internet via your router so should the PVR. What speed is your internet connection? What age is your electrical system and do you use any electrical spike protection.
April 2, 2013 at 3:13 pm #41553Anonymous
InactiveMy internet download speed as measured just now is 3.49 Mb/s at the PC and 3.48 Mb/s at my laptop connected in place of the HDR-1000s by ethernet cable and by going through the homeplugs 3.44 Mb/s.
The house and wiring dates back to 1976 and I use surge protection adaptors at the router and PC end and at the HDR-1000s and TV end.
Was there an answer to my question, “Would you expect the Humax box to appear in the ‘View Computers and Devices’ display on the PC?”
April 2, 2013 at 3:39 pm #41554grahamlthompson
ParticipantAre your homeplug adaptors connected via a surge protection device ? If so that could be the issue. They ideally need to be connected directly to a socket. The HDR-1000s won’t yet see your PC as the dlna server isn’t yet available. If your PC is running DLNA server software you should be able to see shared content on the HDR-1000S.
What speed do you get if you plug your PC directly into the router when running the Iplayer speed test ?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/diagnostics
Mine measures at over 20000kbps.
