jdlfreetime – 2 hours ago » The motherboard designs are totally different. The 1100S is a more compact design. I guess Humax knew there was a problem & released the newer model, especially as they replaced faulty 1000S units with the 1100S? John L
Yes I had noticed that the innards of the 1100s was different to the 1000s. Hopefully Humax rectified the issues in the newer release. I am reluctant to shell out for the new Arris model, reviews are mixed to say the least.
Yes, I agree there are mixed reviews regarding the Arris. A recent topic mentioned no manual padding option, which is an oversight in design if needed. Unless they improve reliability, I would stick with older Freesat models. John L

InactiveMy 1tb HDR 1100 wouldn’t boot up.
I replaced the HDD with a 500gb seagate.
The replacment hard drive lasted from Jan 23 until May 24.
Then the box wouldn’t recognise the hard drive!
So i tried a heat gun on the heat sink, it cut out and then when it rebotted the box could see the hard drive and all my recordings were still there!
So the heat gun trick worked for me on the hdr1100 with a 500gb seagate drive.

InactiveThe heat gun (hair dryer in my case) trick worked to restore power to the hard drive of my FVP-4000T! Got all my recordings back, thank you!
One might hope that there was an easier way to get a hardware reset to happen…

InactiveI tried this method using a hairdrier. The screen went black and restarted. Same problem. I repeated this twice. Same problem.
I was about to trash the machine when I remembered that a member noticed that the fan wasn’t working. I removed the fan power and the problem was solved.
I will never know if I needed to use the hairdrier.
Unfortunately, something must have got fried, because there is no power from the satellite tuners.
I hope this helps others. Remove the fan power plug and see if that works.

InactiveI’ll watch the retrieved recordings then ditch the box, unless anyone can suggest a fix. What woudl cause the tuners to have no voltage?

How have you been getting on with the box since disconnecting the fan?

InactiveAfter watching the recorded videos, I binned it. We have the humax free view too, which still works but doesn’t connect to the Internet anymore.
