Doesn’t the TP link device have a network socket you can connect to ? Can you post the model number ?

And you have a similar unit at the router end connected to the routers network switch with a network patch cable ?

In that case you should not need to use WiFi. It should connect with a direct cable connection.

InactiveThe only reason I wanted to use WiFi is because there’s no plug socket close enough to my set top box. So I’ve run an Ethernet cable around my room from the tp-link as I didn’t want to plug the tp-link into and extension cable.

That should work but a lot will depend on if your Router and the location are on different ring mains. If not signalling through the consumer unit will degrade the available speed. In the end running network cables will always give the most reliable connections.

That should be fine. It should be 80Mbps (80 megabits/second (or about 1 1MB/second.
On the face of it there should not be an issue. Power cycle the router. Clear the cache on the box, to ensure it’s not using old saved settings.
