This is probably of no help but on the FVP models under General settings>Video there are 4 settings:
Screen ratio
Display format
Resolution
SD Output
The last setting (SD output) controls whether output is supplied to the component video sockets. SD output off means no signal to component video. Maybe there is a similar setting on your box?
I now started to check the different settings and found some set to RGB, and then from the manual I found that there is also a button for that on the back of the box. (I will dig out the box itself from my shelf tomorrow and see what it is set to. This might be the solution

OK, I believe that I have found the reason for the issue!
The "Component Select" button on the back of the PVR seemed to have been in-between the two options.
Switching between the options the information notes I wanted to get rid of are displayed on the TV.
I now firmly set it to YPbPr, which according to the user guide is the default.
