I can’t say it’s clear from the forum that the later boxes have dropped the questionable practice of powering down unused tuners but, as everything I know about the 1000s has been gleaned from this site, my lack of grasping the fine detail is possibly understandable?

If that’s the case, the box has to be faulty. There is no rhyme nor reason to it dropping one of the tuners and rebooting is providing the only reliable cure although it’s only temporary. It can be stable for anything between 30 minutes and 48 hours so I doubt it’s a thermal issue???

I’ll keep looking into it and, if I find anything significant, I’ll report back here.

It’s the other way round. It’s only the latest boxes (FVP- 4000/5000T) that power down unused tuners. If the tuner is not required it seems very sensible not to use it. At the very least it saves power.

None of the twin tuner Humax Freesat+ pvrs from the oldest Foxsat-HDR to the 2nd generation Freesat+ smart boxes ever turned off unused tuners. In order of introduction. All are essentially the same apart from the newer boxes having cut down connections apart from adding WiFi internally.

HDR-1000S. RGB scart output – Proper front display- Conventional shape.

HDR-1010S adds internal WiFi to the HDR-1000S spec.

HDR-1100S retains WiFi but removes the front panel display and RGB scart. Replaces RGB scart with the much inferior composite video (CVBS) using RCA phono output. Case design now resembles a pie dish so not really suitable to stack in a rack especially with the conventional earlier kit like say a HDR-FOX-T2

So the two earlier boxes are both more advanced than the current production model and offer identical performance and vastly superior analogue output quality to those not using a modern TV with HDMI inputs.

All 3 have a enhanced HDMI picture quality when compared to the first generation Foxsat-HDR.
