InactiveHi everyone for responding to my initial posting. Thanks for your suggestions. I have turned off the network server and for the last week it has been turning on ok. However being an intermittent problem in the past I will have to wait and see!

Firstly I am not technical! I have a FVP 4000T only about a year old. It has worked fine until lately when it will not turn on from standby. The only remedy is to turn it off at the mains and start again. Surely this is a fault? Any help much appreciated.
I have had the same problem since I first bought mine about 2 weeks ago so it sounds like its to do with the recent update which it installed as soon as I plugged it in, I have gotten round it by having the timer turn it on in the morning, this seems to work at the moment, it shouldnt have to be done this way but it works for now, as the rest seems fine

InactiveYou do need the internet connected at all times. If you switch your router off at night (as I used to) then the Humax will not start in the morning. This behavior seems worse since the latest software update.
In May I went away for 2 weeks and switched the router off but left the Humax to record. When I came home the Humax was locked up – which I expected, but it had recorded the first 5 days of programs then all the subsequent programs had zero length!

InactiveI have had Humax products for years with few problems, but the new FVP-4000T I bought 8 weeks ago is awful. Constant failure to start up is driving me mad. I have turned the power on and off, sometimes worked, disconnected the HDMI, sometimes worked, Reset to factory settings and reset, sometimes worked. But now it won’t start at all. My retailler is not interested and Humax don’t work weekends. The product is junk. How do I force it to start, or have I wasted £200 and best putting it in the bin?

InactiveBrian H. Humax is beta testing new update OS, can’t say any more but there are a number of improvments. Beta testing takes awhile to see if further bugs need attention.

InactiveI had similar problems with my 4000T since I bought it a few weeks ago, mainly starting up after being switched off overnight.
Ive just been away on holiday all week and delighted to be able to report that it recorded everything I set it to do whilst I was away, probably because I turned off the network server in settings as someone previously suggested.
I can also add that I had my router switched off all week so don,t think this had anything to do with it.
Hope this helps.

Just obtained new 4000T freeview with same lockup problem.
My local retailer phoned Humax who replied.
Go to Network Settings
Turn OFF Network Sevice ( it’s on by default)
When set to OFF it stops 4000T searhing for OS updates which causing the lockup problem.
After doing the above I no longer get lockups.
Assuming Humax will do an update with next OS

I think you’re living in hope if you’re expecting an update. I have all sorts of intermittent problems with mine: won’t switch on while it’s recording; sometimes won’t connect to the Internet; sometimes switches itself on for no reason (and if I happen to be watching the TV independently of the box it switches the TV off at the same time). Basically it’s a good box with completely crap software. I wish I’d never bought it.

At least 2 of the ‘issues’ you report are almost certainly HDMI CEC handshake. Try turning off the option on your TV.

Inactivepatsycola.Your Quote. I think you’re living in hope if you’re expecting an update.
For Info. I’m new to Humax having recently purchased FVP4000T Freeview. I emailed Humax with a list of problems.
Give them their due Humax recently asked me if I would test a OS Update and report back my findings.
This BETA OS has provided a number of improved options and a number of my problems have been delt with so at least they have been active trying to sort things.

ModeratorContradiction if in one sentence you state living in hope of an update and then go on to state you are testing a beta.
Many members volunteer to test FVP and other software and do so diligently, reporting their findings in our hidden beta areas as we do not encourage discussions in our open forum.

InactiveBarry. If you read my reply to patsycola it states YOUR QUOTE.
I gave no information away regarding the BETA OS. As I’m new to the Forum I was not aware of BETA Areas on the Forum.

InactiveBarry, I’m not at all technical so I don’t know what you mean by HDMI CEC handshake.
Which option are you suggesting I turn off on my TV?

InactiveThanks Barry. I’ve turned it off – I’ll wait and see if it improves things.
