InactiveI have only just found out that it is a HD tv ! I never knew that. So why does it fail to detect HDMI out from my Humax ? It’s so frustrating because I have never seen it’s HD working. I can only get sound from my Humax and DVD home cinema system when I unplug both SCART cables. The HDMI just doesn’t work despite the tv having 2 x inputs. I can’t access the HUmax menu in settings as I have no picture.

as there are quite a few older model screens still around that only work up to 1080i is it possible on the 2000T after a factory reset to set the resolution for 1080i or 720p and it sticks or does the screen have to be capable of 1080p?
In the past I’ve had nothing but trouble with hdmi handshaking on my Humaxes with some displays that I don’t have with any other hdmi equipment, I seem to remember that the 1800/2000T will only ever work properly as people would expect with 1080p from previous posts; however I assumed that after a factory reset a sensible resolution, i.e. 720p or 1080i could be chosen, but I can’t see anything in the FAQ’s for it and if the 2000T will only ever work with 1080p then the OP is flogging a dead horse.

ParticipantNon compliance with 1080p on HD Ready displays actually refers to 1080p24, 1080p50 or 1080p60. In this case the output is 1080p25 or 1080i50 both 25 fps so I guess there shouldn’t be an issue. Freeview-HD actually switches between the two 25 fps options on the fly. The HDR FOX T2 offers 576i, 720p, 1080i and 1080p over hdmi, I imagine the newer boxes will be the same.

Moderator@ damian – Have been waiting for a unit to become available to try a few things including your suggestions (been tied up on other tests)
1. The default after a reset with HDMI connected is 1080i, with only Scart 576i but this can be changed during the set up process.
2. Just did following, scart only connected, factory reset and changed resolution to 720p during set up process, completed set up, removed scart and inserted HDMI, unit booted and resolution still 720p.
3. The OP is probably sick to death of this now, but might be worth having a go as per para 2 see if you can then get a picture via HDMI.

InactiveThanks Barry for the info. What I will do (as Sony Bravia flat screen as notorious apparently) is try a factory reset with it and then if that doesn’t work, i will try what you have just suggested. Will let you know the outcome.

Cheers Barry, that’s good news,
I’ve seen a few 1800/2000T posts with hdmi problems and I was never too sure whether people were picking 1080p which would be the natural choice for best resolution and clearly the wrong resolution in hindsight if the screen isn’t capable.
I think you’ve proved with your tests that the lower and better resolution, for some screens, choices stick so if anybody still has problems after picking 720p or 1080i following a factory reset then it can only be down to a fundamental hdmi handshaking issue with a particular screen/display that no amount of tweaking will fix
thanks again

InactiveWell I can’t factory reset the tv despite following instructions so I am at a loss. My tv will display 1080 so no need to downgrade to 720 which I did try to no avail.

So what exactly happens when you try?
November 21, 2014 at 9:59 am #57299Anonymous
InactiveOk, I was successful this time from this instruction
After a factory reset I go to HDMI in menu and it still fails to detect any HDMI inputs despite the tv taking 1080i. So near and yet so far

ModeratorStrange that you cannot get a picture with the humax set at lower resolution(s) via HDMI
Any possibility of trying on a different TV – this to prove unit HDMI output is not if fact faulty, otherwise I am at a loss.

InactiveI haven’t tried a lower resolution with the Humax because I want it to match the tv 1080 resolution. I will try it now though. I also got this message when trying to view the HD channels.
“the programme cannot be viewed via HDMI connection because your tv does not support digital content protection(HDCP). Disconnect the HDMI cable and connect the Scart or composite video connector to watch the programme in standard resolution”
Funny enough, even after this message I can still see the channel’s picture which looks exactly the same as the sd channels.

InactiveOk, tried to change the resolution and it’s greyed out at 1080

Ok, tried to change the resolution and it’s greyed out at 1080
That normally means your TV is reporting that it can’t do 1080i using EDID data interchange.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_display_identification_data
Shouldn’t be an issue with a Sony Bravia.
However note your TV resolution is 1366 x 768 pixels so you won’t ever see 1080 lines on it. Some HD Ready TV’s look better at 720P, but it seems you can’t get HDCP handshake at any resolution.
As Barry says, need to
Try box on another TV
Try another 1080i source on the TV.

InactiveIf I can select 720p I would but it’s grayed out on my Humax
