Hi welcome to our forum. Can we start by asking why you did a retune in the first place ?

Do you have your own aerial or a feed from a communal aerial ?

Hi, I bought a Humax Freeview box from a reputable dealer (on his recommendation), but guess I was unlucky because there were problems requiring replacement boxes (more than once). From Sept 2017 all well until the picture in HD began freezing. Reluctant to go through whole rigmarole again but when standard picture froze, contacted dealer who spoke to humax, passed on advice (to keep box on stand-by overnight so it got the updates) – didn’t solve problem but I found online that a complete retune to clear the memory should sort it. That worked but in the process Freeview Play has gone.

    I have my own aerial.

Do you mean when you press the FVP button nothing happens ? By complete retune do you mean you did a smart retune or a reset to factory defaults ? The latter is what you need to do (default password is 0000). Make a note or photograph your recording schedule first and choose the option that does not format the hard disk.

Thank you Graham. I think I did a smart retune. I’m not aware of an FVP button – is this on the handset?

Unfortunately I’m now away from my TV for 10 days so unable to put your advice into action but will get back to you in due course. Thank you very much for your advice which gives me hope again!

Graham is referring to the button with the big red F.

I want to watch the documentary, The Mitfords: A Tale of Two Sisters,

In relation to what prompted the question this thread was created for, it has now appeared in the epg:

    A Tale of Two Sisters

Synopsis: Jessica and Diana Mitford were once adoring sisters, but their love for very different men – one a communist, the other Oswald Mosley – led to estrangement. Tune in to learn more. [AD,S]

Thanks for the heads-up, Luke, I wasn’t expecting to see it aired so soon.

Many thanks for the information re my absent Freeview. I have done the factory default retune and it worked. Brilliant! Have also discovered the ‘Button with big re F’ on the handset – only mine is small and black with a blue symbol! Thanks for all your help.

Sorry Ruth. I had forgotten that the 4000T and 5000T might have different remotes. It is the “big red F” on the 5000T.

I have both RM-L03, old 4000T remote and the RM-L08, new remote.

The new one has a bit red F and the old one has a big blue button with a house icon and ‘HOME’ written on it, in white. Not sure where your button is?

    RM-L03

First button on the second row, black with a blue icon and “on demand” written in blue above it.

I’ve added pictures to FAQ of both remotes.
