InactiveJust to add to the confusion, I have noticed if you set the Power On Timer to operate during a recording. It does come out of standby, complete with TV picture on Hdmi!!!!!!!!!

InactiveSounds familiar.

ParticipantSorry for delay in responding. Site went down when reading your post. Super idea to try a wake up timer (wish I had thought of it)
Obvious next step is will the box wake up from the physical power on button on the box itself (Indicating a ir remote lock out situation during recording). If it does can you try changing the box remote infra red mode as detailed in the faq’s.
https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/multi-code-function-hdhdr-remote
A tentative theory, we already know that freetime boxes can switch remote mode channels apparently randomly (appears to be already fixed). It just seems possible that the some boxes during recording may change the remote channel. Barry can you post the mode number your FVP-4000T remote currently uses ?
Grasping at straws but evey test can eliminate possible causes.

InactiveIt does not make any difference, remote or switch on the recorder.

InactiveThe physical power button on the box itself doesn’t overcome the problem (see my initial post). I have now managed to try using the analogue output (connected in addition to the HDMI link) – when it fails to output to HDMI it also fails to output analogue.
I am currently of the view that it is something to do with some “deep sleep” mode. I don’t get the problem in testing if for example I try setting a program to record in 5 mins time, put box into standby and let it start recording – it will then ‘wake up’ for live viewing in response to the remote’s power button and output an HDMI feed. Again there is no problem if the program is set to record in 15 mins time or 30 mins time. It is when the scheduled start time is more than around 45 mins that the gremlins set in.
I know that the box comes to life about 20 mins prior to schedule recording time (hdd starts up and led goes from pale to bright red). In my tests, if I try to bring out of standby in that 20 min period, the led flashes blue once but then goes back to bright red with no output to HDMI or analogue. So the box is responding to the remote but failing to output a feed to the TV. What is more bizarre is that having tried but failed to bring it out of standby in that 20 mins prior to the recording starting, it then seems possible to bring it out of standby when the recording has started!
I’m not yet sure whether this last error sequence is reliably repeatable as my testing cycle takes time for the reason mentioned at the beginning of this post (and life goes on with other things!).
I hope to update my results as soon as possible including trying box on another brand of TV.
Thanks to all for inputs in response.

ParticipantThis is very strange. If the hdmi cable is completely removed and the box is only connected by analogue cables, is the situation identical ?
During the pre recording situation, the box is looking for a signal from the broadcaster to start the recording.
If auto padding is turned on, then this does not happen. The box wakes at the scheduled time adjusted by whatever padding is set.
Does using auto padding resolve the issue ?

InactiveJust for interest, mine will never turn on if it’s recording. I have to pull the plug out (wait say 15 seconds) put plug back, restart recording whatever I have just messed up by pulling the plug out.
Then I can go to “on demand” and see if it’s one of the days where Youtube is working or not. (Yesterday – yes, today – not yet).

Have you tried the power on timer set to wake the box during a recording ?

InactiveI think the answers yes, but can you clarify the term “the power on timer”? Thanks.

The box has power on and power off menu settings that you can use to turn on the box at a specific time and turn it off at another. By setting a on time whilst a recording is in progress, it has been posted the box wakes up OK and delivers pictures.

InactiveThe irony! I went to the box to check these setting so that I could be sure I gave you the right answer. Unfortunately I can’t turn it on as it’s recording.
P.S. if it is recording, doesn’t that mean tha it is on?

InactiveJust going to pull the plug out of the wall so that I can get to its settings!

InactiveAh, that setting. I’ve owned the box for 6 weeks now and have spend many hours every day trying everything that one finds on this forum and all the other “Google hits” I see that is set to come on very early.
It’s a pity, but I’m afraid this box is going to the back of a cupboard and I’ll dig it out in 6-9 months to see if there have been any upgrades. There are just too many problems. I’m afraid I just can’t spend any more time on it.

InactiveI had a very similar issue with my 2000T when I first purchased it. I posted on here extensively about the subject. I did cure it and it was definitely an HDMI issue. My problem centred around the fact I was using a HDMI hub. This worked if I switched the machine on manually but I just got a blank screen if it was set to come on as a timed recording.
The timed recording didn’t seem able to switch the hubs HDMI output to live. I solved this be linking the 2000T directly with the TV. However, even to this day I find it works more reliably if I have the TV on its own Freeview tuner then switch to the desired input rather than having it on that input intially if its already recording.
My TV is also a Panasonic.

InactiveSame problems here. Locked out tonight when tried to turn on after box had started to record from standby.
My TV is telling me it is receiving 1080P but no sound and black screen. Tried different ports, same result, 1080P, blank screen.
Box frozen, had to pull plug after recording had finished.
After 2 weeks this is the first time I’ve seen this although wifey says it happens regularly and she’s more or less given up.
Annoying.
