I returned my Aura to Richersounds and got a replacement 2Tb Aura. The new one has no problem at all in the SD channels. So I urge anyone with similar fluctuating SD channel quality to replace your Humax box with a new one. The new box is still on firmware 19.14.

To be clear I am not disputing some are having SD problems, just wanted to advise that comparison with 4000T is not a good idea.

It may not be a direct comparison but it showed me my Aura had a problem with signal quality and by checking another box on the same aerial I could see the 4000T worked fine on the SD channels. My new replacement Aura has signal strength 96% and signal quality 100% and no fluctuations on ch 33.

Pretty close to what I get. However viewing from HDMI on a 55″ 4K TV. on SD channels

is not to be a good experience.

Viewing either the highest bitrste SD channels on android tablet from the Aura media server is fine. Using Bubble upnp and vlc as the media player to watch BBC-SD gets the local news without any probles

I had a pixellation issue on Friday with Vintage Voltage recorded from Dmax.

    Recording simultaniously had been:

    Dmax – Vintage Voltage

Channel 5 HD World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys

    ITV HD Van De Valk

Both HD recording were fine, but Vintage voltage had extensive Pixellation roughly every 30 seconds,

This even caused the recording to keep skipping back approx 5 seconds at one point and looping over the same 5 seconds.

I attempted to watch Vintage Voltage about 1 hour after it was recorded. To Check for an issye with Dmax itself, I stopped playback, and checked Dmax in real time, which showed no pixellation at all, and signal strength and quality over 95%.

So glad you highlighted that break up of recording and skipping and looping problem. I got that too on the BBC 4 programme ’The violence paradox’. The looping was subtle so that I hardly noticed until I heard key phrases again. This was on a defective Aura. I will try 3 simultaneous recordings again on my new Aura

I have done the 3 recording test on both Aura and 4000T. There seems to be a real problem for me with the Aura on the SD channels particularly on COM6 ArqB Mux (channels 25 and 26 Yesterday etc). The signal quality is low and fluctuating

Interesting. However on the Aura Tuner 3 appears to be receiving from a different frequency than the FVP-4000T so difficult to compare.

Ah yes that was a bit weird, the Aura needed a retune not sure how it even got ch 22?

At a guess, Mux COM5 from Rowridge.

I think the ch22 is actual Freeview channel not transmitter channel. So still all Whitehawk transmitter

If you are referring to the “CH 22” in the signal test photo then that is definitely not LCN 22, it is mux/frequency 22. So that would suggest that your Aura and 4000t are tuned differently. Assuming that your were recording the same lcn’s in your test?
