I watch SD recordings from my Aura on our Bedroom TV using Kodi on a Firestick and it works a treat. I am able to jump through the ads as well without issue. It will also resume if you stop partway through.
It will play HD recordings too, but if I try and jump it will stop playback and will lose its position.
That sounds promising. What method did you use to ‘connect’ the Aura as a video source to Kodi?
Cheers
I did the following within Kodi:
Movies
+ Add videos
Browse
UPnP devices
My Aura was visible including it’s up address
OK
That was it, hope this helps
interesting I cannot get any of that pause/jump/etc to work on any app, i tried including my Mac, Android phone, fire or Roku.
Did you already say if you’re doing any conversions to mobile format on recordings on the Aura first?
There hasn’t been a recent update has there, I didn’t try for a few weeks. Thanks for the information, if it works for you it can’t just be a limitation on the device after all
I haven’t done any conversion before hand, it simply plays from the Aura using Kodi onto my TV upstairs using a Firestick
Press once on the round shuttle button and it jumps +10 seconds, press again and it will jump +30. If I press it 3 times quickly, it will jump 3 minutes.

InactiveIt’s curious that it works for SD not HD. thinking about it all my recordings are from HD channels. But not all are shows that benefit much (I’m recording all of Frasier!) I’ll have to test this next

InactiveWell that’s weird, I installed Kodi (v20) on the Chromecast and there is no “upnp devices” option at all.

Oh dear, glad I didn’t upgrade when I saw the message about the new version.

I’ve got Kodi V20 on my Aura and when in the add video screen I can browse and get the list of things like Network (SMB), Local, upnp etc.

InactiveNot sure if the entire option is missing, or Kodi hides upnp when it can’t see any devices.
Did you mean to say you installed Kodi on the aura box as well as the client or was that a typo?

InactiveI only have Kodi on my Firestick.

Kodi was installed on my Aura when it arrived a few weeks ago, it updated to 20.0 shortly after.
Kodi – client?
I have Kodi running on a RPI3 (OpenElec) and an old Amazon stick. I have a NAS with lots of DVD’s and music on it, plus a VBox TV Gateway (IPTV), so accessing all via Kodi works well.
I only looked at the Aura Kodi (20.0) to see if upnp was there.
Just remembered mu Win10 laptop came up as a upnp device on Aura Kodi as did the other devices running Kodi.

InactiveI’ve noticed DLNA is a bit of an issue. I find that if I restart the Aura box or turn the box off, my Firestick and VLC then play fine, its as though the sever just stops responding after a day or so.
Might be helpful

Do you give enough time for the Aura to connect after it being turned off or do you leaves yours on?.
I notice my Aura needs to be on for a couple of minutes after coming out of deep standby before I can connect to it.
Also, if the Aura is already on and I want to play something on my Firestick through Kodi, I need to get Kodi open again for a couple of minutes before it will connect to the Aura. If I open up Kodi and try to connect to the Aura (which is visible) straightaway it says it cannot connect. Try again in a couple of minutes and it works a treat.
