    Ref:

Just enter http://192.168.1.xxx:8080 where xxx is the right number for the box’s IP address.

Great, How do you know this stuff, is there a go to location for these sort of instructions?

Still getting same error even with “Port 2323”

I had that briefly yesterday. I seemed to cure it by logging in manually to FTP via the command line but not sure I could guide you through that reliable!

If you’re OK with getting a Windows command line up, then type “ftp” (enter) and then “open 192.168.1.135 2323” then username “aura” and password “0000”

If that works and you don’t get an error message you should be able to type “dir” and get a listing of the files in there.

Then go for “close” and “quit” and “exit” and try Filezilla again?

Just a check too – did you enable the FTP server via the settings on the aura in the first place?

Eh no… How do I do that? Feeling a bit silly now! Thought I set up FTP with X-plore.

It’s somewhere in the settings menu on the aura; can’t recall where from memory, sorry!

I’m in. Phew, that was hard work. Thank you all for your help and patience.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. This is my first attempt at FTP’ing ever.

    Vince.

It’s simple really but it would be nice to have a tutorial saved here including the Aura FTP settings required, in a prominent position in the forum rather than buried in various chat strings. Would save novices like me hours in the future.

Have found the following results comparing copying file from Aura to PC.

    File Size: 1 GB.

    Speed:10 MBps,

    Download times: 68 Seconds.

This speed was almost the same regardless of using:

FTP with FileZilla via Cat 5e lead

    or USB3 32GB Memory stick.

When writing same file from PC to USB3 32GB Memory stick, the speed increases to 80 MBps. Humax is therefore 8 times slower than PC when writing to the same memory stick. This suggests that USB on Humax is USB 2.0 rather than USB 3.0.

(USB 3.0 Spec. is supposed to be good for up to 625 MB/s read speed!)

Any suggestions how to increase Transfer speed?

The speeds you have quoted are significantly faster than earlier Humax boxes. I have always thought the speed was limited by the CPU performance; the CPU in your PC is almost certainly many times more powerful than the CPU in the Aura so it may be difficult to get big increases in copying performance.

That’s not true. Once you’ve converted it the “converted” version of the HD file (which will be playable elsewhere) is available via FTP just as it is through the WebControl front end or via the app.

Will that be an SD version?

It is lower quality than HD; there are settings available in Settings> ‘Record & Share’ to set the bitrate, resolution and frame rate so you can optimise for the device you want to play the recording on. To me, using the settings that produce higher quality images, they look perfectly acceptable but that is certainly one of those things where everybody will have a different opinion. It isn’t perfect but is better than previous Humax boxes where HD content could only be played on the box that made the recording.

Just installed the Aura this week. I am getting 6mb/s when using W10 File Explorer to copy from the Aura box to a folder in my PC. This is the simplest way, do others not use this option?

Edit – the rate is comparable to that I got with the FVP5000T
