Thanks for the replies about autopadding. I’ll see how I go on with Series Record and catching any missing beginnings by using Demand 5.
One thing I have noticed when watching on Demand 5 is that there haven’t been any adverts, which was a pleasant surprise.
Ha ha ha – not a very pleasant surprise for the Ad Dept!

Yes I was pleasantly surprised by no ad breaks on Demand 5. Pity ITV and C4 don’t employ the same strategy.

InactiveLet’s hope it doesn’t come to that – or at least, not yet. Personally I’d be very sorry to see ITV and C4 eaten by the Americans.

InactiveThanks for the replies, all.
I see some people have had accurate recordings of Neighbours recently, but we’ve not, sorry, I mean the WIFE hasn’t, these are HER recordings, I promise! 😉
Because it’s missing quite a bit at the end of the show (5 to 10 minutes) we would rather not waste disk space by padding all our recordings by 10 minutes, so we’ve set a manual record every day 5 to 6, this does mean we’ll get random recordings on the sat and sun too, ho hum.

ModeratorMy test recordings of lunchtime neighbours (series linked) are starting at the 5 logo or just after sponsor message and ending about 6 minutes after programme finishes.
Missing 5 to 10 minutes is unusual even for 5, are you sure you are only tuned to one transmitter?

InactiveAs far as I know. I always had to do a totally manual tune on the 9200 because it would pick up loads of other channels but with the 4000 I thought I would let it do an automatic out the box and it came up asking what region I was in because it had found conflicting channels (that’s a plus). So I set it to my area.
I’ll have a look tonight, I don’t think there are other channel 5 channels on the box.

If you can identify the uhf channels used for each one of your mux, and your local transmitter it will be possible to be sure you haven’t got multiple transmitters. TBH not sure how good the region option is identifying which are say from a main transmitter and which from a repeater relay which of course are still in the same region.
You won’t find multiple channel 5’s. but it’s still possible you have some mux from a different transmitter.

The FVP-4000T has already been reported as not always saving from just 1 transmitter on the prime logical channel numbers when auto-tuning is used. Its stored channels are not always even from the same region. (If a remember where the report was I’ll add a link.)
The only practical method of knowing that you are tuned to just 1 transmitter is to use manual tuning from an empty slate and target just the 1 transmitter.

In my experience this is also true of other Humax HD boxes. There is something odd about the latest version of the automatic tuning; sometimes it works perfectly and sometimes it makes a horrible mess; I haven’t been able to identify a patten. As you say the only safe way is to check what has been stored after an auto tune.
