InactiveNo, I didn’t need to change the settings. It happened as I was trying to change from terrestrial tv back to the humax box.
I must have touched something on the RC to cause it to happen

ParticipantWhat make and model of TV ? Do you have the screen resolution numbers ? I take it is a TV and not a monitor.
Basically need to check the screen pixel aspect ratio.
a 1920 x 1080 display has square pixels (1:1 par). Other resolutions may not be square.
Does the TV have a freeview tuner. Have you any other kit connected by HDMI ?
Can you try another HDMI cable and or another port on the TV. It might just need the hdmi cable re-seating both ends.

That should be fine. It’s a Full-HD 1920 x 1080 display.
Have you got another HDMI source attached ?
More than a bit baffled. No issue with my TV (it’s a 2160P 4K OLED).
Try playing with the HDMI cables as I suggested.
Next action – photograph your recording schedule and then do a reset to factory defaults on the Foxsat-HDR.

InactiveThe picture is no longer elongated, but it doesn’t fill the screen widthways, only top to bottom

Try this with the vformat set to 720p. All this shows is the Foxsat is outputting what it should.
What DVD disks do you have. The aspect ratio should be on the back. Many are wider than 16:9 these should have black bars top and bottom. If not the DVD player settings are incorrect. If you can find a 16:9 one it should fill the screen with no black bars.
I will see if i can find a series 5 manual on-line

InactiveI looked out of the window and a neighbour was passing who happens to be a tv engineer….. he pressed a button on the tv control named p-size and chose the right one and bingo! It’s OK.
Many, many thanks for your time and patience! I really appreciate it.
