All I can add is that on several occasions in the past myself or my wife had pressed the volume or guide keys on the R/C before the mini-guide appeared and the box froze. I attributed the freeze to our premature action. Learned to not do that so haven’t had a problem for some time, but that could be down to improvements in the firmware releases.

My advice would be to do nothing until the mini-guide had appeared.
Nothing especially includes looking at recordings. Twice when my recordings disappeared I was trying to jump the gun and see recordings (Recordings returned after a standby cycle).
I get the impression that the remote signals are being buffered but not yet being serviced.
