InactiveQuote:I think the old software will show the old Showcase and the new the new. Different URL perhaps. That’s what I think also. But I don’t know for sure.
The thing is, this suggests that those running older software probably aren’t getting the bug. Good that Freesat are checking on that.

That was certainly true at update time. But anyone have any idea what has happened to the old Showcase since. Is it still available ? If so is it fully functional and being updated ?

It must have been functional two days ago when evilivor was accessing Showcase, if you know for a fact it’s a different URL.

ModeratorOld software = old showcase.
New HB 1000S connected up a hour or so ago, had version 2.00.09 on board, old showcase which is not being updated, and was missing some thumbnails. On demand worked although again no thumbnails.
Software update carried out, now have new showcase with thumbnails and it is up to date.

InactiveThat’s very interesting!
Could it just be a handful of faulty boxes, I wonder?

You’ve lost me…
So you are implying there are quite a few users out their now with a connected/plugged in working boxes still running an old software version of some sort. Any of these users ever come on this forum ? How do they accomplish this, how do they stop their box from updating automatically ?
I already made one suggestion which I personally think is highly unlikely. That was they never turn their box OFF but unplugging instantly after each use might work too !

No, I’m saying (not implying) that anyone who is running old software probably isn’t getting the bug. But it’s good that they’re checking the software version, as it’s better
to make sure.

Perhaps no one is. Why do you think that’s important?

InactiveI don’t, others do though and you said it was “Good that Freesat are checking on that” (Which software version the box is running).
As far as I’m concerned it’s very unimportant as the boxes under normal use update automatically to the newest version and any boxes on here that aren’t working correctly have been updated or updated automatically to the new software.

Losing the plot here.
Everyone agrees it’s very unlikely anyone doesn’t have the new software (It’s certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that some boxes failed for whatever reason to upgrade).
What I don’t understand what is wrong with asking the question in the first place ?
And why make a song and dance about it in the first place ?
I have lost count of the number of posts where a posted issue was down to a way out of date software being currently installed (For a whole number of reasons, perhaps the owner was away for a period and the box was powered off for a considerable period being the obvious one).
Frankly how hard is it to provide this information ?
I don’t think most will care if you think it’s unimportant, it does however say something about your attitude

Interesting to see your e-mail – Software Version omitted because I think it’s not important. What would you do with it, the Garbage bin beckons ?
If someone posts a new behaviour not yet experienced, what’s the first question that will be asked ?

1. New unit – update declined.
2. Software update failed.
3. Unit powered off for a period.
4. Old software reapplied (Implies they found a old beta somewhere).
JamesB’s comment that “No, I’m saying (not implying) that anyone who is running old software probably isn’t getting the bug” is possibly true (Based upon Barry’s comment and one other post I think).
The point is simply that freesat wish to verify they are running the latest version and do not assume they must be. As a very high percentage of the users posting have new unit the chances of this are much higher.
Edit: Graham typed faster than me.
p.s. It would not have occurred to me before reading this thread to ask if their unit was new(ish).

InactiveHi folks good to see this problem is being discussed and not only ‘waiting for those on high’ to sort it. I have a one week old Humax HDR 1000s which I updated to 2.02.01 on day one. Since then I too have the ‘No Showcase or on demand’ problem which will not respond to: Switching off and on; reconnecting to router etc. The only thing I haven’t tried is a factory reset. What will I lose? As long as I don’t lose recorded programs I’m fine with that is that what others recommend?
I will e-mail support with my model/software/router info.
We do have internet connection and catch up on 901 so it is exactly what others are experiencing.
Loving everything else about the box by the way, we were paying Sky £50 a month for almost nothing more!

Freesat only asked 2 questions what router and what software, given the information we now know from helpful users the software question seems a waste of time for this particular problem at this point in time.
Freesat obviously need their own forum and have a complete lack of imagination when it comes to asking questions that may help to solve this problem.

.
I presumed the box Barry plugged in hadn’t been connected for a while, so was still on the old software once booted, I didn’t presume he was permanently running it with old software.
