InactiveMine was paired and soon unpaired, shortly after the app was released. I’ve never had occasion to do a factory reset.

InactiveFreesat’s updated advice suggests to me that they thought they knew what was causing the problem and are just beginning to realise that it might be something else.
Edit. Or that there might be more than one problem.

InactiveI’ve just popped home and my daughter already had the box on watching something, I pressed the home button and went to Showcase which I was greeted with the to use Showcase connect to broadband message, I scrolled up to On Demand which was available to use so all good there, I then scrolled back down to Showcase and it was now available to use.

Inactive“Update 30 September
What software version you are running – you can find this by going to: Home -> Settings -> System information -> General info -> Software version”
Yes I think Freesat are on to something here, it may well have something to do with the recent software update. 🙄

It also could be the introduction of a new version of showcase (or both). One thing we know is that those with very old boxes don’t have the issue, despite having the latest firmware.
That’s what Freesat and Humax are attempting to find out.

Previous one Jan2014 was 2.00.05. Version Number increased from 00 to 02.
Before you ask no idea what happened to 02:00, 02.01, 02.03 etc
Barry beat me to it

Except for my older box of course which seems to have some random behaviour with Showacse & On Demand.
What are we differentiating between an older box and newer box timescale wise?

I know what Freesat are trying to find out I just don’t see why they need to ask what software version users are on. Unless the user never turns their box off then won’t they be on the latests version and there were zero reports of this particular problem with the last version !
So if they put two & two together, read this thread and understand that the boxes automatically update they should already know what software users are on !
Maybe they should be asking questions they don’t already know the answer to, like how old is the box.

I don’t think it is as simple as that. I think it is more to do with the functions that have been used on the unit. However, as already observed, there are a lot of new posters with new units.

Simply they need to ensure anyone posting does in fact have the latest firmware. Basic rule never assume anything that may be incorrect and lead you up the garden path.
Though very doubtfull they may find somebody running the older software. It would be interesting to see what would happen in this situation with outdated software and a newer version of Showcase. Does the older version still work for instance ?

Does the older version still work for instance ?evilivor posted (#196) that he got his box very recently, paired it, was able to access Showcase and On Demand, then updated the software and was promptly hit by the mystery bug.
Though whether his box was accessing New Showcase or Old Showcase, when running the older software, I do not know.

I think the old software will show the old Showcase and the new the new. Different URL perhaps.
