InactiveQuote:Have you ever tried to get Apple to listen? No. Apple offer a paid support service. I don’t feel the need for it, and don’t pay for it. Consequently, Apple and I don’t converse. A state of affairs I’m perfectly happy with.
I agree it’s commendable that Humax and Freesat have acted quickly. Be interesting to see how many revert. All those whose wifi stopped working, I should think.

”If you had read this forum prior to the update you would probably have gone out and bought two. It is without doubt the best sat box money can buy – e.g. it’s head and shoulders above the Sky+ HD box I used to use.”
I have a busy life, when i fork out for some thing i expect it to work. Looking back at the forums, every time there is an software update, problems start. Freesat/Humax must be using some cutprice testing of their OADs.
I realise how annoying this sort of thing is and sympathise. Example,iOS 9 has crippled my IPad and yet Apple do nothing months after the software was released. .
That’s clever considering iOS 9 is currently only available as Beta, the official release won’t be available until September. ๐
If you do indeed have iOS 9 then there’s only one person to blame for crippling your iPad.

Been waiting nearly 2 hours for clearance to post this info and James beats me to it

geoffc spotted it first. I saw his post and went looking to see if it was really official. I’m still a little puzzled – didn’t think the box would accept a lower-numbered version.
It will accept any version via USB flash. However unless the new version has also been pulled it will offer or auto update the next day. My guess is the new version has been pulled.
Yes, Barry posted on Monday that it had been pulled. (#155)
Thanks for the explanation.

InactiveI’ve reverted to the previous version. If I try software update, it doesn’t find anything so I guess the new buggy update has been pulled.
It didn’t like of any of my pendrives over 4GB. It does say the pendrive must be formatted FAT32 in the instructions. The update is 41MB

ModeratorThe update was removed from OTA and IP on Monday as I posted in #155

InactiveJust completed the roll back to previous firmware – very straightforward.
Used an 8GB PNY usb stick.

InactiveI’m going to leave my 1010s as updated for now. Haven’t had too many issues and the WiFi works OK. Will give it a chance ๐

InactiveI’ve just rolled mine back to the previous OS too using a 30GB generic pendrive. Its nice to see the icons back, and the showcase working again without an internet connection

InactiveJust rolled mine back using a 1GB SanDisk, and working fine, well not tried it too be honest but we will find out soon

InactiveYes, well done to Humax/Freesat for allowing rollback to previous version.
My only problem, however, with the latest software has been the Edimax wifi dongle not working (I haven’ t had the re-start problems). I’ve just changed this for the Tenda W311U+ and eh presto as a previous poster commented, wifi works and I have a link to the internet.
On Demand and Showcase are both running smoothly.
Only a slight issue with the Help and Info section where a request for the Internet Connection video gives me the message ‘Not supported file format’.
I’m sticking with the latest software version at the moment.

Very perceptive of you. I did realise my typo when it was too late. It should of course read as iOS 8.

InactiveI was thinking of reverting myself if only to get Showcase back, but I suppose once the new improved/fixed software is released it will be back to broadband only again.
So for now I’ll carry on using their app and manually recording anything of interest using search on the box.
So Freesat won’t let me record direct from Showcase on the box (unless I’m connected) and
Freesat won’t let me record Showcase direct from the App (unless I’m synced and my box is booting up about 4 times an hour)

InactiveIs anybody else intrigued by this:
“Some improvements have been made on Monday evening, which we believe has made the reboots a lot less frequent, but there have still been some reports of the issue recurring.” (Taken from the Freesat statement issued yesterday)
Are they saying that *some* of the reboots are not firmware related but Internet/Freesat server/Freesat app related?

The update was partly intended to deal with the ongoing problems with Showcase/OnDemand access, which do indeed involve Freesat’s servers and app. Changes to the servers helped mitigate the problems previously, with no firmware update. So it’s not surprising that they’ve been trying to see if further tinkering might be helpful.

InactiveJust prior to seeing your post I was reading the notice on the Freesat website and was wondering the very same thing.
It does look like some of the problems are or have been network related – apart from the loss of display icons and loss (for some) of support for third part wifi adapters. Although we now have the option of reverting to a previously stable (relatively speaking) version of firmware should we so wish.
Have been impressed by the way Freesat/Humax have handled the situation.
