So who provides caches for Google, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram then?

Server farms staffed by pixies, who knows?

    It’s all done by magic.

So, Humax. You have lost a customer and it looks as if you will lose more

I’m sure that they will sorely miss you. 😆

Surely you’ve already been a ‘customer’ when you bought the box. Unless you were planning on buying another…

Just a quick note to say I did a “Check New Software” on my FVP-4000T, just in case, and as no-one has mentioned doing it in this thread, if I remember correctly.

There was none, since I’m already running the June update v1.03.52.

Does “Check New Software” still work now that OTA update delivery has been replaced by online delivery?

Interesting question. I run the check from time to time, and it spends a few minutes (presumably) looking for an OTA download with the right ‘signature, but I’ve never seen it come up with anything new. I only learned by accident that the 12th June version had been installed, while randomly exploring the menu options.

I recall that the 12 June version installed for me on doing a power off reset. Quite by chance, but there it was.

    Me too.

BBC Player just hangs with a rotating circle then comes up and tells me there is a problem.

I cannot remember if I have used it since the Humax software update to get the My5 player to work.

There is a simple way to check if it is probably a Humax change or probably a BBC change causing the problem by installing the previous release of the Humax software.

If the BBC Player now works, then Humax probably caused the problem with the update.

If the BBC Player still does not work then it is highly likely the BBC made the change causing the problem because the BBC Player used to work on the previous release of Humax software.

How do you select which software version you load?

I have to say I am amazed this has not been resolved. Having checked the BBC site they are placing the blame firmly with Humax, let’s hope they get their finger out as this has gone on far to long.

Agreed sma236 but does anyone at either Humax or BBC actually care?I can see this thread goes back a while. I’ve enjoyed iplayer through my Humax box for a number of years.

How are you going to stop the iPlayer app from updating its software?

I can add myself to the list of those who are now experiencing the iPlayer content download problem AND the YouTube connection problem. Is there a separate thread for the YouTube problem? To quote from an earlier message in this thread:

YouTube through my box sometimes gives “you are being directed to youtube.com” and then shows 12 grey boxes. Sometimes, YouTube works fine.

I think you may be giving people false hope.

This is affecting (apparently) all Humax devices and not all devices have recently had a firmware update. Hunting down the previous firmware and installing it will be pointless.

Especially with the 4000t/5000t as this would most likely cause the other catchup services to fail again (the most recent firmware for these two devices was specifically to repair functionality of several catchup services).
