Can I ask then… for those that have not been able to pause live tv since firmware update… did the reformat of hard drive fix this?
I lived with the problem for about six weeks. The reformat cured the issue.

So the firmware update hasnt necessarily caused this problem?

InactiveI’ve had to re-format twice since getting the box at launch 15 months ago. On each occasion it was quite separate from an update. On several updates I’ve had to do a factory reset immediately after to cure some problems. I regularly do a disk cleanup if I’ve deleted a lot of recordings. Don’t forget the hidden 2580 channel (key 2580 into your R/C while watching live TV and wait for the i-banner to appear, ignore the no such channel message). This apparently clears some buffers on the disk.

InactiveAll fine here and no problem with the function currently.
My view is that the firmware before last introduced more checking of the buffer functions (Record from start, pause etc.) and this has uncovered old problems. However my issue, I think, was caused by a series of power cuts. Never good to loose power when the unit is writing to disk (Which is nearly always).

InactiveJust a thought regarding the non pause/rewind issue, has anyone tried turning off Recording Buffer for a little while and then turning it back on again?

Tried that along with Factory Reset and Disk Cleanup, all to no avail…

InactiveI have just noticed something and wonder if anybody else has the same.
Before the recent software update I was able to see a countdown timer next to a program that was being recorded while looking in “Recordings” Now all I see is the red dot with an “R” in it and no timer . Just wondering if this is part of the update features.

InactiveWas that a countdown timer? I’m pretty sure it was the time so far recorded, so a count-up timer effectively. Gone on mine also.

Well maybe I used the wrong wording, but when a program was recording you were able to go into “Recordings” and there was a timer on the far right of the program that was being recoded saying how many minutes of the program had been recoded at that point. Now all you get is the red “Record” logo, although I have found if you highlight the program that is being recorded the time does appear in the information bar at the top of the screen. Not sure if it was there before or if that is new also. But if yours has also vanished then it must be a “new feature” I much preferred it where it was to be honest.

So did I, it was far better before Freesat meddled with it. At a glance you could see two recordings and how long they had been recording for. They need to revert planned recordings to its preupdate state and I want the start times of my recordings back again too.

InactiveFreesat appear to be again deleting from their official forum those posts they don’t like. I was following a thread that suggested an option… Auto Updates Yes/No. The purpose being to allow users to defer updates if they read in the forums of problems with a release. Also that users have the capability of downloading and installing a previous level where the new release was problematic.
All very positive and a useful suggestion. This morning it has been deleted. Don’t they want feedback from their users?
