Inactive“While you might argue that Humax should have foreseen this problem, although we don’t know what the communication is like between those who make the changes and the manufacturers, it seems that Humax have pulled out all the stops to try and get all machines updated.”
The DTG run a update testing service to which manufacturers have agreed to send updates in advance. 1.00.26 must have been tested and passed when first supplied. If, if the rumour is true, there has been a change to the DTT platform, Humax should have checked out 1.00.26 against this usually well publicised change.
ETSIs are a set of standards to which DVB -T -S & -C are specified. There is also a DTG “manual” called the Blue Book. Manufacturers who are members of the DTG agree to use these. Sometimes the software developers either don’t or “mis-read” them. As did Humax with the 9200 infamous delayed recording start bug…
In the past, when such hiccups happen the DTT change is reversed till the Set Top Box/PVR issue is resolved. Though in this case just how Humax can get ALL the 9300 and 9150 users to update is a mystery!

I think you are perhaps misinformed. The problem is with old versions of the software not 1.00.26. The people posting on this thread have uniformly been using versions earlier (I think) than 1.00.23.

Inactivehi
Iam in a bit of a dilemma
My remote is not working so when i am on installation menu i cannot input numbers into the default box.
Firstly is there any way to put numbers in without the remote and secondly i have a horrible feeling that the remote may be knacked.
can i test it with my digi camera as per all remotes or has it ceased to work because of the software prob.
thanks in advance.
I understand that if i put the box in standby it will update at 4am but am a bit impatient

InactiveMartin,
Ooops. Don’t know where that came from! Complete gobbledegook wasn’t it!
I’d meant to say that 1.00.026 was obviously stable as it must have been tested, etc. And that it was originally issued, as I recall, to fix a freeze after a DTT platform change.
Sorry for the misunderstanding on my first post in this forum.

There is no way the software problem can have broken the remote. Yes you can test it with a camera. I assume you have checked the batteries?

Sorry but wrong again. 1.00.23 was the version that fixed problems that some people were experiencing during and post DSO. 1.00.26 was mainly bug fixing and improved functionality.

InactiveI just wanted to say thank you for your excellent advice yesterday about updating my 9150T. Like many others I hadn’t updated my software for a year because I leave it on all the time.
I always assumed I would miss any scheduled recording if the device was on standby, so today I did a little experiment. I set up a recording for the afternoon, put it on standby and went out. When I came back the PVR had faithfully recorded the programme without any problem. I should have guessed it would be cleverer than me!!
Anyone else with the update/standby issue can be reassured by this I think. Once again, thanks for your help and these excellent forums.

Low power sby retains the minimum requirements for the box to wake up to record it’s schedule (less than 1W). Same for all Humax pvrs satellite or terrestrial.
It’s an eec requirement for all boxes sold since 2009.
Sky boxes do not comply incidentally but that’s a whole new story

InactiveHi Barry,
You are a star – just managed to fix mum’s PVR9105T with the help of your posts.
It kept locking up for no reason.
It had an old software version from 2009.
checked for ota update signal as mentioned – it found one available but kept getting ‘error E-HW’ and locking up. Had to keep switching off at the back and try again!
Did the reset option 4 thing, but still errored out when trying to auto update.
Next tried the manual update method ota search and it worked!
You have saved my mum the price of a new pvr – top man!
Merry Christmas
Baz

many thanks for all your help. Now back up and working.
Great – if only they would give it the functionality of the original Tivo !! Mine still works alongside the Humax and is better for some things.
Still, at least it is all back up and running, thanks to you
The new Tivos aren’t bad either, though you do need a VM cable to get one.

Just to repost a few links for those who can’t or won’t read through a long thread.
DTG OTA download schedule
Humax digital download page for files and instructions on updating.
Humax UK Facebook page for news on updates etc.
you can also follow @humaxdigital on twitter
