The latest fix 3.00.20 on Humax web site indicates this fixes HD problem.
Does it? The notes I can see say it fixes an HDCP issue which stands for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection; which I don’t think has anything to do with the reports of boxes unable to see the hard drive.

InactivePlease advise web-site or a link to Humax updates please – I don’t see anything on Humax-Direct. Many thanks.

InactiveI can confirm that my box still has HDD issues, despite being on the 3.00.20 firmware.
I believe it just fixes the HDCP problem, which is totally unrelated to the hard disk drive issues.

InactiveThanks for link – have registered for eagerly awaited software update emails.
Are these hard drive issues affecting both the 1100 and 1000 boxes? I suspect so as they share the same software.
Returned the problem 1000 box to Humax Direct: still waiting for a refund settlement by them – could be escalated to a significantly not as described PayPal claim soon.
My other 1000 box, which I bought at the same time as the problem box, is working fine (why?).
If Humax sort out the hard drive problem then I would gladly buy another 1000 box. ‘Till then the missus has to use the old Sagemcom, which on the whole has been quite reliable over a number of years.

InactiveI got a replacement box after i contacted Humax via email and they sent me a warranty form.
I edited the form online and saved it back as a pdf file and emailed it back to them and 3 days later a courier picked up the broken box and gave me a new one. (So well done to Humax on that. Thanks)
I put my remote and the leads with the new box and put it all up on ebay for £170 + £12 p&p.
No way i would trust any Humax box so thought best way is to just sell it quick.
I’m using a Zgemma star 2s that has twin tuners and i’m over the moon with it.

Full refund received from Humax Direct !! Nice result but I would have much preferred a reliable and stable PVR in the first place – is this too much to ask for in this day and age? In the meantime my EchoStar PVR has apparently stopped receiving HD channels and my Sagemcom has lost all recordings ffs !! No more electronic purchases without full 5 year guarantees from now on.

I have two Humax boxes and one Panasonic – they’re all that stable I could balance nitroglycerin on them – what more could you ask for?

What the boxes don’t like is previously used flaky Sky installations.

This is interesting but I don’t understand how a previous Sky installation (flaky or not) can effect subsequent Freesat/Freetime installations. Could you elaborate?
I have over 90% signal with 100% quality but still have had what appears to be (but isn’t) HDD failures on both 1000s and 1010s Humax boxes, Where the Box refuses to acknowledge a healthy hard drive.

Yes but there are Sky installations then there are Sky installations. Some look like they have been done by a bricky not a bona fide installer.

If there are poorly fitted F-connectors, dish a fraction out, LNB or cable with water ingress. Some of the Sky installations are notorious – I have seen a few myself. Any of these are likely to make the box misbehave.

InactiveI’m somewhat sceptical. Most fault reports on this forum seem to get cured through an eventual software update or a replacement box or a change to the setup.

A poor installation is a poor installation no matter what service it was installed for (Sky or Freesat). But the problems related here are not due to poor signal level or quality. In every case reception is probably good, as the fault is with recording alone, unrecorded viewing is unaffected as would not be the case if signal level or quality was the issue.

Glad it worked out for you. What will you buy instead?
Nothing at the moment – will wait to see if this hard drive problem gets resolved first. In the meantime my other HDR-1000 is OK (fingers crossed) but I have noticed that the drive spins up frequently when on stand by even though I have never paired it or even used the freetime app.
