ParticipantGiven that an update to the Android version is likely next year, I wonder what are the most urgent software problems in the Humax software that users would like Humax to fix?

InactiveNot exactly a problem but as this thread is straying to wishful thinking in an ideal world I would like frame advance and slo mo to go along with my Com5 pausing issues cured.

InactiveAn easier recovery method for lost/forgotten PIN could be useful to some.

InactiveThe FTP server on my Aura is temperamental. I’d like it to work every time, not having to stop and restart it several time and/or re-enter IP address.
The most needed fix is the one that stops the pausing on some channels.
I find the Freeview app crashes sometimes and won’t restart. Consequently rebooting can be a pain as the Aura doesn’t respond. It’s possible that by restarting an app other than Freeview – I can’t remember which one – it becomes possible to restart Freeview. I shouldn’t have to go through hoops to do this – or crawl on the floor to pull the mains plug.
I’m sure I could find more…

I am surprised by that as for me it works first time every time; what FTP client are you using?

Remind me, which channels are affected.

How do you restart an app other than Freeview?

Inactive“Remind me, which channels are affected.”
For me it is the Ch4 offshoot channels on Com5 and seems to be affected by time, mornings and late night can be fine whilst afternoon to night has pauses every few minutes.

InactiveMartin:
The FTP client isn’t the problem, it’s Humax’s on-board FTP server which fails to respond. (Active refusal error) It could be WinSCP, the command-line FTP, FTP connections from java programs or python scripts.
4seven is the channel that I currently have problems with.
To stop/restart an app, assuming that what has failed doesn’t prevent this:
[F])Settings/Apps/see all apps/ optionally show systems apps, choose app, Force stop, Open.

InactiveWe only use it as a basic PVR, no streaming or remote access so the only issues we still have and would like fixing are-
1. Not remembering where you left off when restarting playback of a recording. This is the most annoying as it just happens and requires fast forwarding to where you left off.
2. When you start to playback a recording the Timer/Clock does not start counting meaning you can’t Pause. If spotted (it’s the first thing we look at) just restarting playback fixes it so not as annoying as 1.
I am however not holding my breath, as stated its an “Android” update so not expecting anything to be fixed that involves Humax, hope I’m wrong.

I agree it is annoying but I have found that it is much less likely to occur if I first pause the recording and the use the back button to exit the programme.

I agree this is one of the most irritating problems. My experience is that after starting a recording there is often a pause before the playback starts (worse for me on HD recordings rather than SD). If you press a skip or fast forward button during the pause it often triggers this problem so my golden rule is wait for the payback to start before pressing any other buttons.

InactiveThe re occurring reboots, from the soft reboot where the Aura goes blank and then we see the white revolving circle as the Humax software restarts itself. Or the full power down where the Aura shuts itself down and goes for a full power cycle with the start up Humax logo, the Android restart and then the Humax operating system startup, this happening in the middle of the box recording is the most annoying.
This is fairly random when it occurs, the Aura can go days without a reboot or a restart other days it can perform these irritations continually through the day.
When that happens I power down the Aura unplug and wait about 10 to 15 minutes before restarting.
Occasionally but more often recently the Aura decides during TV watching or during recording playback to interrupt and show the Home screen, sometimes this can be a one time occurence and others it will continually switch to the Home screen, which necessitates a power recycle.
The skip forward or back operation where it will jump back to the beginning of a recording or the live TV buffer rather than fast forward or rewind to the place you want to be.
This only very occasionally happens on my Aura but a lot of owners over the years have posted about this.
Even though my Auras Freeview system app has been updated to the latest version to address the freezing or blackout on certain TV channels I noticed last night while watching E4 Extra and 47 it froze again after a few minutes. Why is the Aura susceptible to this whereas my Humax 5000T is not affected nor my TV. Humax could do with investigating this further.
Another irritation is that the Aura still suffers from pixellation and drop outs, i.e the signal seems to be less stable in the Aura but pass through to my 5000T and then my TV the signal is stable with no such drop outs.
The Aura is first in line to receive a signal from the aerial but yet often shows less Signal Strength and Quality than the 5000T and the TV. Most muxes are ok and no pixellation occurs but at the moment mux 44 is affected on the Aura with pixellation but the 5000T and the TV are fine. The pixellation is occasional and doesn’t necessarily interfere with enjoying a programme.
Just wondered if a tweak to the tuning software would enhance the performance of the tuners or if this is really a hardware issue with poorer quality tuners in the Aura.

I hope people are managing their expectations re Humax support.
I’m expecting nothing and will probably be disappointed. They’ll probably create another fault.
