For some reason my 2000T decided to perform some sort of “update” on its own today and when it had finished, I’d lost all my planned recordings.
It did save all the recordings already made.
Automatic retune for addition of extra RB channels.
There is a pop up message if you happen to be watching when booted, the default is to retune if you do not change option to later.
Note this will affect HD/HDR/1800T/2000T units.
Thanks for that, but I was a bit miffed having to input all the planned recordings again.
What are RB channels and why only hdr2000 1800?

Just back from a few days away and, like Doghouse, it appears my 2000T did this update – all on it’s own – sometime on Tuesday, with the result that several ‘important’ recordings were not made. Arrrgh! Thank goodness I came back today and discovered it, and was able to reprogramme the recording schedule.
How can I ensure this never happens again (ie without me giving permission for the update)?

Next time you are away for a few days:

Switch off the auto power on
Leave it to record from stand-by
I also don’t have any reminders but I’m not 100% sure that matters
That way it’ll leave the auto-tune pop-up until you come back and switch it on by hand.

However, if auto-tune can happen at any time and results in deleting the recording schedule, I don’t want that to happen at all – whether I am away or not. Otherwise, surely I (and everyone else) has to check daily to see if the recording schedule has been deleted?
So presumably I need to leave the 2000T with ‘auto power on’ permanently switched off? Or will that have some detrimental effect or unintended consequence?
I have to say that I find the concept of firmware which, in effect, allows the device to delete customers’ recording schedules, without first asking them and then not telling them it’s happened, totally unacceptable. Or am I missing something here?
PS Just had a look at the power management settings. I can see the ‘auto power down’ setting, but how do I turn ‘auto power on’ off?
The exact name of the option is ‘Power On Timer’.
It is located at MENU > Settings > Preferences > Time
To switch it off you will need to highlight the option then use the right arrow button located on the remote just to the right of the OK button.

As I mentioned in another thread where this came up, having an auto-selected option that results in destructive changes is an absolute no-no and anyone with half a walnut of good user design skill knows that. Unfortunately Humax don’t belong to that camp…

Do you know if this will work for OTA upgrades as well? I lost 5 weeks of scheduled recordings a few months ago when on extended holiday.

I’ve just checked my settings and the Power Off Timer was already off, so your solution will not prevent this problem happening.

Two separate questions involved here:
1 – What does the D-book say tuners should do when a retune is needed and no user response is received
2 – What should an unattended box do about the timers in the event of a retune?
The latest D-Book apparently specifies “Smart Retune”.

Yes, I agree that the power saving option alone will not stop it.
Having the power saving option turned off is only part of the solution. The HDR-2000T has to stay in standby.
