InactiveI have just joined the 21st century by buying a Humax FOXSATAT-HDR. Currently I only have 1 LNB feed, I see I can loop through from input 1 to input 2. Has anybody done this and what are the considerations? I plan to get 2 LNBs soonish.

ParticipantIt provides both tuners with a signal so gives you two channel recording (and 3rd channel viewing) with some restrictions over a two cable set up. It’s important to fit the loop because the box assumes it’s there and so will let you make impossible recording combinations if both tuners don’t have a feed.

Remember when you do add the second cable the box doesn’t know you have.
Easiest way to recognise the second cable is do a factory reset though there is a hidden menu that you can directly change the connection mode from.

InactiveGraham this link re loop cable single feed says it takes you to a table, link 1 year ago.

ParticipantDownload this file and save it on your PC
http://humaxgoodies.weebly.com/freesat-channels-by-transponder.html
Open the file from the file option in whatever web browser you use.
Ignore the channel 5 version listed in the same block as the BBC ones (it’s not there anymore, I need to upload a new version)

InactiveThanks Graham,
That was a better list than the one I download before.
I’m getting there thanks to you.

InactiveHi there,
I’ve just switched back to using a single cable for my foxsat hdr. Simple question: where do I get the loop-through cable to connect lnb1 out to lnb2 in? I presume I’d find it in tesco/argos etc. Just need to know the name of what I’m looking for. Thanks.

InactiveI think nearly everone makes their own as you will not find any sufficiently short.

Agree

However if wm77 is not happy making own and are is bothered with having a long cable then:
Homebase currently have this offer:

Argos similar if not same cable:

ParticipantVery simple to fit a pair of f connectors to a short length of coax.
http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/fplugs.htm
Note you can ignore the grease for an indoor connection, ordinary coax should be fine for such a short connection.

InactiveGot the cable from Homebase last night for a fiver. Did a factory reset and I have to say, it’s very impressive what you can record with only one cable! Basically I’ve had the foxsat for a year and was getting a bit bored with the limited channels. Sky were doing a deal for €20/month basic package so I went for that.
The only thing with sky in Ireland is that you don’t get BBC 4 HD or Channel 4 HD on the EPG so I’m going to leave the foxsat where it is and use both boxes. I had three lnb feeds from the dish so I have only one lnb feed left for the Foxsat. I can record potentially 4 channels and maybe watch one other with both boxes in use. Whether there’s four worth recording could be debatable!

In case you haven’t spotted this.

There is an alternative arrangement.
Use both cables on the Foxsat and use the tuner 1 out to give an extra feed.
This gives full function when Foxsat is in low power sby. When on or recording only channels in same band and polarisation available (same as tuner 2 when in single cable mode). I feed one of the satellite tuners in my TV this way.
