Barry
ModeratorReceived the following from Humax Towers:
Humax are preparing new features on our Freeview Play FVP-4000T 500GB and 1TB models and prior to public release, we would like to run a trial offer including an updated interface and new services!
To register to take part please e-mail:

If successfully selected you will receive more information by email.
To participate in the trail you will need to update your own FVP-4000T.
Once official SW is released to public, your box will be automatically updated via over the air.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Best regards,
Humax Electronics,

InactiveBarry, I am happy to give this a try, and will email Humax later this afternoon.

InactiveWill the new features consist of getting the box to perform as originally intended? Radical idea I know.

InactiveI’ll register and give it a try but will need an assurance from Humax that I can revert to the previous firmware at any time if the FVP-4000T does not series record after updating. The Missus will kill me if the update breaks the box even more than it is at present.

InactiveI am tempted but have the same worries as you Richard. But I would like to assist Humax with the HDMI problems as well as the NAS. I also use Netflix but did not intend to use this box for it, but I could give it a whirl.

InactiveThis is very good news from Humax! I also think it is a very good idea because it will allow testing with a range of TVs and different users – Humax will no doubt be very keen to get our thoughts on the new release.
I have asked to be on this trial and I look forward to getting the new software.
Richard, Bitterman
I expect it will be fairly simple and that Humax will probably send us a new release by email which we will load via the LAN or USB socket. All you need to do is to be sure that you also receive a copy of the original version of the software so you can install it back again if you need to. I doubt that the upgrade will be done as an OTA upgrade because Humax will presumably want to limit the number of testers until the software has been checked.
Remember the 9200T and the RS232 plug/socket? I uploaded several variants of software using my PC.

InactiveThe email specifically mentions the 500GB and 1TB models. I’m assuming that any forthcoming new software will also be uploaded to the 2TB models.

Was the 2TB model actually released to market?

Yes, I bought one last December, which is why I am hoping that Humax not mentioning it is just an oversight.

InactiveWilling to be a guinea pig. If it resolves some of the existing issues will be a step forward.

The hard drive size is surely not going to be an issue. The software is identical.

InactiveThey don’t need to recruit a panel
They just need to use it
I’ve had one for less than a week and I have a list
I don’t think the software designer has ever used a pvr

Does this mean that you are going to register your interest in the trial?
