I am getting tired of using iplayer and Youtube only for the machine to flip into re-boot mode without any reason or warning. This has happened a lot of late and I have no idea why except it is extremely frustrating.

I have seen the same problem with the HDR-FOX T2. The fact that it is happening on the HDR-1800T and 2000T too is interesting. There is no fix I am aware of, but I do recommend contacting Humax Customer Support. They will probably give you the run around and tell you to do a factory reset which will probably not help, but only it is only likely to be fixed if enough people contact them and report the problem.

Well I am getting very frustrated with this machine. Random filp outs from iplayer causing any recordings to stop and machine to power off and on again. Infuriating !!!!!!!

I think there is a bug in their portal software. There are a lot of reports of problems with the HDR-FOX crashing with iPlayer, but it is not consistent: sometimes it works OK. I have not heard of as many HDR-2000T users with the same problem, but clearly there are some. Have you contacted Humax? I think that only they can fix it. If you get no joy with them you could return it as faulty; is the unit still under warranty?

iplayer works with no issues on both my HDR FOX T2 boxes.

I don’t use iplayer a great deal but last time I did, it crashed our HDR-FOX T2.

There are quite a few reports on Hummy.TV of iPlayer crashes, but it not everyone has the problem.

I tend to use iplayer quite a bit on the HDR FOX T2 because the CF allows the stream to be recorded. Handy when you lose an episode midway through before getting round to watching previous ones. Not had any failures. When I get a few minutes I will try a iplayer HD programme.

Iplayer HD – The Hunt worked OK on one of my HDR FOX T2 boxes.

I player live BBC channels is awful too. Sound drop outs, long pauses, loading problems. It’s a dog’s dinner and yet when I view via my ipad or PC live it streams as smooth as silk.

Iplayer live streams would seem to be pretty pointless on a box that can watch them live anyway. Does the 1800/2000T actually have live streams ?

Just had a look and yes there are live streams in SD only (on a HDR FOX T2 which pretty sure has the same version of iplayer. Current One Show is playing back just fine, though it’s not a patch on the iplayer 720p25 HD catch up streams. Still can’t see why anyone with a pvr would not simply view the live content directly and in HD when available.

The HDR-1800T and 2000T do not have the connected red button live streams but they do have the iPlayer live streams.

It would be very odd if they didn’t have the iPlayer live streams when the HDR-FOX T2 and HD-FOX T2 do!

To access them open iPlayer on your Humax HD freeview and navigate to the channel category and select a channel. The live option is the first option top left.

Edit: took too long posting a reply. You’ve added to your post!

Thought I better check, not something I ever looked for. I did use it a lot on my tablet, but now have a freeview IP server so only use iplayer for catch up.

In an ideal world all iPlayer versions would have Live Restart. For some reason, a lot of users have been left stranded with an iPlayer version which uselessly streams a live broadcast but can’t let you see it from the start. :(
