InactiveHi
New to Free-sat & forum.
Recently purchased the HDR-1100S, after dumping Virgin.
All working OK, but there is a frustrating lag in searching through the menu etc.

Is this normal, or do I have a faulty box?

InactiveMenu? Do you mean the Setup/Settings menu or the program guide that shows the channels and the current and future programs (the one with the PIP in the top right corner)?

Inactiveyes, it’s the Program guide.
But also takes it’s time showing from start-up.
I know it’s not life or death, but annoying

InactiveDefine “lag”, because the EPG (Program Guide) is normally very fast in scrolling. You’re the first user on this forum, as I recall, to complain of this in respect of the 1000S/11000S product. The 30-40 sec startup is due to low power standby which is now obligatory on electronic equipment.

InactiveHi.
Thanks for your reply.

what I mean by lag is slow to react/get there.
Yes I am new to the forum and Humax.
Although I didn’t like Virgin, I didn’t have any slow loading problems.
I guess I’ll have to be patient and get used to the change/remote

InactiveHi Foxleybob,
Just a thought. You mention you have just purchased this. I assume it was brand new?
When the pvr was setup it checks for latest software & updates the box when setting up for first use. It might be worth doing a factory reset/full reset if you don’t mind losing recordings & then restart the box again. I know there is a slight lag sometimes, but quite often when the box has an update, I have found you occasionally have to do a factory reset (keeps recordings). Sometimes an update needs a bit of tlc(!)
If you do decide to do this, note down your schedules first as these will be deleted, along with all settings you have changed/setup. Worth a try. Let us know how you get on. John.

Slow to get where? Please be more specific with your descriptions of exactly what is happening and what you suspect is wrong.

InactiveYes it is brand new from John Lewis.
And Yes, it did search for updates, so I assume it’s up to date (fongers crossed)
There are several recorded programs, mostly on BBC, so could watch on Catch-up maybe, if I am to factory reset it.

InactiveSorry, I thought it was obviouse in my post what the problem is.
It is rather slow the get to the program information etc.
And the start up, which was explained by Pollensa1946.

InactiveFoxleybob,
Only trying to HELP you!!! Nearly the Weekend.
Habit I get into: Something I do EVERYTIME I get new equipment is to do a factory reset before using equipment. Yes, good advice from pollensa1946, but worth also trying my idea? Good luck. Hope you enjoy your Humax. John

You won’t lose recordings doing a factory reset unless you specifically ask for the hard drive to be cleared.

InactiveFactory Reset will not delete your recordings, only the recording schedule of upcoming programs.

ParticipantThe cached epg gets dumped during overnight housekeeping. So the first manual boot of the day takes longer as the epg cache is rebuilt.
Set a daily power on timer at o8:00 BBC 1 HD Volume 10. Set a daily power off timer at 08:15. The cached epg will be rebuilt so when you next use the box the guide should appear near instantly. Scroll to a channel by tapping in the channel number.
106 will take you instantly to BBC1 – HD at the currently selected date and time.
