Aura is struggling to access any streaming services BBC iPlayer, ITVX, etc

Also notice still no support for Netflix and NowTV (Sky) apps

    Have Humax abandoned Aura?

Should they still be allowed to sell new ones with these same issues?

    Yes yes yes

    They don’t care

They palm people off with the same emails

They knew it was a dud when it went on sale

No one’s going to buy their units again

I’m no fan of Humax but to be fair it was really bad when it first came out and they did put in a lot of fixes & enhancements over many weeks and months. But…that’s a few years ago now and it does look totally abandoned.

Yes, Its topical of Humax these days I’m afraid.

What was a really good company HAS TOTALLY GONE TO THE WALL.

I’m HALF EXPECTING THEM TO GO BUST SOON.

I was with them for over 25 years.

right up until earlier this year when our 5000t was playing up

I gave the Aura 3 tries with all 3 being returned as unfit for purpose.

We have switched over to the Manhattan T4 R.

What a difference, Their box has a totally different user interface. & remote.

The tuners are as solid as our Tv’s tuners.

(one of which is a 4K tv)all without the need to go messing around with the arial

Also, all of the players that Freeview play use are already installed.

the streaming is perfect .Before We switched I contacted Manhattan Tv by e/mail.

    Their customer service was brilliant.

the person that replied seemed fully conversed with the product.

He couldn’t have been more helpful. including advise about an update roll out.

I know it only comes with 2 tuners, but with the Freeview play.

that and go onto any of the players you can get even more missed content.

If anything gets deleted by accident. it goes into the deleted file for 30 days.

You can even retrieve it . ( something Humax never did)

There’s just one more thing, If you search for any company that has 3 tuners.

You’ll find that nobody else does anything.(only Humax)I wonder WHY?

once you get used to the new interface you’ll see Why I’m staying wit Manhattan.

Good luck. No more sensitive tuners ,or signal interruptions every time the box wakes up.

I was looking for an alternative to humax after the 5000 but Humax was the only one with 3 tuners. I’ll never get why others don’t have 3,4 or even 5 tuners, they must cost about £5???

I record very little now because I stream most stuff so I’m thinking about switching over Sky box next time

Last week returned my Manhatten T4R! Happy with the way it all worked but the picture quality was poor especially on live tv, compared with my 7 year old Youview box. persevered with settings and emails to Manhatten for a week with no improvement?

Purchased the AURA a few days ago and everything seems good, quick to set up and the picture quality brilliant.

How was it connected to your TV?

As I found the picture is excellent, especially on the HD channels.

Ours is much better than our old 5000t ever was.

having a good HDMI cable connection to the tv is important though.

Our Samsung 4K tv reproduces the picture better than our Humax did.

The only thing that we had to do was to switch on the HDR.

Then it was in line with the High Definition resolution for our TV.

then all modern Tv’s upgrade to the next definition.

( in our case the HD channels are enhanced to just under 4K.

Used good quality HDMI cable [one using now with the AURA] also tried the one which came with T4R. Also using Samsung 4k tv? Maybe I had a duff one! When I emailed Manhattan they said they were possibly getting an update for SD live tv picture quality in the near future!

On my T4R the latest update is the 1.07.

Its a pity but, I agree you must have been unlucky in getting a duff one.

At least Manhattan are still releasing updates to address any problems.

Also system improvements for the future.

I believe its been a very long time since Humax has released anything at all

Good luck with your Humax, However if Humax shuts up shop. there is no warranty.

Maybe you can help with a question that I have been unable to find out.

Is the Manhattan powered by Android TV like the Aura and therefore have the Google Play Store? I am thinking about getting a new box for the bedroom, but it would be a deal breaker if I could not add any apps, especially my alternative YouTube app.

    Thanks

Don’t think it is. Didn’t read or see anything about Android or play store during the week I had it!

As far as I know it is limited to Freeview Play apps and according to this review cannot get YouTube Apps, maybe someone else can advise if that has changed since this review from July……….

Purchased the AURA a few days ago and everything seems good, quick to set up and the picture quality brilliant.

This is a reply from Manhattan to another buyer who was unhappy with picture quality…….

“Thank you for purchasing the Manhattan T4-R. I appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback about the SD picture quality.

I understand your concern regarding the softness of the SD picture on your T4-R compared to your previous Humax 2000T. The T4-R does produce a soft SD picture, as it helps to mask some of the noise and jaggedness present in SD broadcasts. While this approach reduces the crispness you’re used to, it aims to provide a smoother overall viewing experience.

That being said, we recognise that some customers, like yourself, prefer a sharper image. We have an open case with our chipset manufacturer to investigate options for sharpening the SD picture. However, we’re focusing on resolving some other matters first, which we believe will have a more significant impact on overall user experience.

In the meantime, you might want to experiment with your TV’s picture settings to see if you can achieve a more satisfactory result. Some TVs have sharpness or detail enhancement features that could help compensate for the softer SD output from the T4-R.

    Best regards,

    Alex”

Thanks and to @trog, that’s what I suspected in which case it’s a definite no for me.

I will purchase another Aura if I decide to replace the current USB recording stick I am currently using.
