InactiveRecently purchased a Humax FVP 5000T (my first Humax) and I have the latest firmware installed (1.03.37).
Just recently when setting it to record a programme from the ‘Guide’ it is starting late and missing the beginning of the programme and very annoyingly missing the conclusion!
Now I know I can change the PVR settings to add time to the beginning/end of the recording schedule but I thought recorders could ‘sense’ the programme it was due to record and adjust as necessary, (my old Panasonic Freeview recorder did this).
Am I missing something … or is the FVP 5000T?
TIA

InactiveDepends on the broadcaster as to whether they send the change of programme signal at the actual start of the new programme or do it strictly by the clock and the published schedule times. The BBC and the other main broadcasters usually get Accurate Recording right but the small players usually do it by the clock.

Presumably you do not record The Archers where only 1 out of 10 broadcasts don’t truncate the end of the programme’s dialogue be it first broadcast, repeat or omnibus edition.

It is not that they do it by the clock but because they don’t do it all. When the broadcaster doesn’t use ‘Accurate Recording’ for a channel (e.g. the BBC for its radio programmes including soaps, dramas and documentaries) the system defaults to times previously supplied by the broadcaster or their schedule contractors. In practice these default times end up being the same times as the 7 day schedule, though even without ‘Accurate Recording’ they don’t have to be. (There is a description of what happens in D-Book 7 part A which is available from wikileaks.)

InactiveI listen The Archers via the podcast. I accept radio broadcasts do not use Accurate Recording.
Not sure why you are quibbling about the rest. You are just expanding on my simple explanation.

Welcome to our Forum

1. Are you sure your unit is only tuned to one transmitter?
2. Any specific channel causing this issue?

1. No I’ve not checked that, how would I tell?
2. This has mostly been with ITV, Channel 3.

Look at your epg, if you have channels with numbers over 800 you have more than 1 transmitter tuned.
If you don’t know which is your best transmitter use this site and tick the detailed view.

InactiveThank you

I have 791 channels listed.
My best transmitter appears to be Mendip.

What does the information above the Strength and Quality bar graphs say for tuner 1 ?
First item should say CH54. What are the percentages shown for strength and quality ?

InactiveThank you

Quality and Strength for Tuner 1 are both showing at 100%
I do not understand your second comment re: CH54, I do not see that on the same screen and don’t know where else I should be looking.

At the top of the signal test screen alongside the Words Tuner 1 are the details of the Multiplex that you are using to watch ITV 1. The first info is the UHF carrier channel number CHxx followed by other details like the carrier frequency in kHz. It’s just above the bar graphs.

InactiveShould’ve gone to Specsavers!

It reads, CH54, 738000 kHz, 8mHz, 8K, 1/32

That confirms you are on Mendip. I record a lot of ITV (but from the HD variant) using a FVP-5000T. Not had a single issue with curtailed recordings. As you can see my 3 uses CH54 (Lark Stoke).
Make absolutely sure you have start and end times set to Auto. Try recording from 103.
It’s not uncommon for Mendip users to pick up channels from Moely Parc.
