InactiveHi Jim,
Raydon’s done a great job, download the file and you’ll find a ReadMe.txt file in it which should contain all the straight forward steps to installing it.
My advice would be to give it a go and if you get stuck, I’m sure you won’t, drop a message/post back explaining how far you’ve got and where you’re stuck.
It’s well worth installing it, best of luck

InactiveHi Damian,
I have managed to update my FoxsatHDR using a 2Gb flash drive formatted to fat32. On boot up screen now shows Custom FW v4.0.8 I don’t know what steps to take next.
My PC is in different room using Windows 7 Professional 64Bit using Solid State Drives, but I have a couple of 1Tb Sata drives that I use for backup, one of which I could use for something else!

So what is it you want to do with the custom firmware?

ParticipantHi jimp21
First of all you must have your Foxsat-hdr connected to your home network by some means. If you can use iplayer it is.
Now you need to identify the IP address your Foxsat is using.
Menu System Network
It will look like 192.168.0.2
Make a note of this and open your web browswer.
In the url type the above number and press enter. Your PC should now connect to the Foxsat and complete the basic installation of the software. After this is complete reboot the Foxsat and re-connect as above.
You should now be able to install the additional packages you wan’t to use.
Good Luck

You didn’t need the CF to do be able to use iplayer, just needed to connect your Foxsat to your router. You will only be able to use iplayer using the Foxsat (assuming you are using a Scottish Postcode). Itv player is only available for English, Welsh and Borders postcodes (you can change to a Borders postcode by running a freesat tune). afaik STV player is not available at all on satellite Freesat boxes
It’s available on Freeview boxes though.

Are you trying to stream content from the Foxsat to your PC, or have copied recording files to your PC (.ts) ?
If streaming have you installed one of the media servers (eg Twonky) from the packages ?
Is the content HD or SD ?

You need to install the VLC Player plug-in from the web interface. Be sure to read about the pre-requisites in the help information pages that gets installed with it as you need VLC on your PC also.
Once installed use the Web Interface’s own media browser to select an unencrypted recording title. The Media Details window that pops up will contain a ‘Play’ button.
BTW noted from your earlier post that the CFW you installed is v4.0.8. Latest is v4.1.1 and so you should really update to this one.

InactiveHi Graham And Raydon,
I did have VLC on my PC and then installed plug-in from Web Interface, and it does have a ‘Play’ button but nothing happens. Will have a look for the new firmware and update this.

InactiveSorry to be so naive here
Do I have to do anything to use Twonky to stream Humax Foxsat-HDR recordings to my computer as it says the following:
Your trial version has expired.
Please enter a registration key to activate the server. If the server software was bundled with your media receiver, the registration key is provided by the manufacturer. Please check CD and documentation. In all other cases a key has to be obtained from the TwonkyMedia Online Shop.
