InactiveIs this the (unexpected) replacement for the Aura:
https://www.cordbusters.co.uk/first-freely-recording-box-humax/
Maybe this site is closing prematurely!
It may also explain why Humax are suddenly updating the Humax Aura software.

Strange that it’s not on the Humax website. They’ve kept this quiet!

Maybe it will be sold by Freely rather than Humax, like the Freesat box.
I can’t wait if it’s true, without all the extra apps a Freely only recordable box should be more reliable than the Aura.
Just hoping Humax do a better job than Arris and Freely do a better job than Freesat.

InactiveRather an odd article that talks about not being able to skip adverts on iPlayer (???) confuses a few things, talks about the BBC box (which hasn’t even been designed yet) and repeats itself.
This looks very much like a FVP 5000 with Freely apps rather than Freeview. I hope they’ve upgraded the chipset.

This Freely Humax box sounds like a terrible idea and looks like an old FVP 5000 repurposed. Do we really expect this box to be any good(!)

I bet you are closer to the truth. The recording is just for the terrestrial tv and it has freely apps.

Its referring to the EE/BT TV Pro Box when it said you can’t skip the adverts on iPlayer.
On that box in non-IP mode you can skip the advert for that sometimes occur at the start of an iPlayer programme, but it is referring to pseudo recording made when in BT/EE’s IP-Mode which playback via iPlayer. I’d be slightly surprised
if what they say is true as, on that box, when going into iPlayer directly you can skip the BBC advert that sometimes appears at the start.

There are no adverts on iPlayer, there are on ITVX.
And if they meant trailers at the start of a programme why did they call them adverts.
I stand by my point that it’s a poor article.

InactiveAnd you can skip trailers on iPlayer on the EE/BT TV box.
Edit: Beginning to wonder if iPlayer is becoming the generic name for a streaming service in the same way that Hoover did for vacuum cleaners? I can certainly believe that an AI system could learn to believe this which is what could possibly have been used to generate this article.

Because they are advertising themselves.
If it’s true (and many places are advertising it) I would assume they are just using the old case and the innards will be all new (it won’t run ITVX if not), shame as it’s not the best-looking box, the Aura is way better looking.
Personally I think it’s a great idea, whether its implemented well is another matter.

InactiveI think it’s too soon to say, but at least PVRs are being produced.

InactiveI’m not sure they will want to let us record streamed tv. The freely box will probably let you record from the ariel and just have a freely app for the streaming stuff. The box looks so outdated. The 5000T box when did that come out? 2017!

InactiveAlthough the AURA does have its functionality issues aesthetically it looks clean and modern. Backward step going back to the old Freeview/Freesat case design.

I don’t think there is any info on the new box apart from what’s in the link.
