InactiveWorked all day on this one, I’ve just changed from Sky+ to Freesat & working fine even with a Triax Tri Link modulated output to TV upstairs, sort of replacment for teh second Sky output. However the prime system is teh HDR1000S connected to my LG 32LD790 TV. Trouble is when I switch TV off at TV or on it’s remote , the HDR shuts down also unless you pull the HDMI lead out or switch TV source to antenna before switching off TV & then restarting HDR box.
Got to be something better than this, is it one of theHumax HDMI handshake issues I’ve heard about or is there a simple solution. I cannot access Simplink on this TV

InactiveAre you sure you can’t disable it on the TV.

ParticipantHi welcome to our forum.
The problem is the flawed implementation of cec (simplelink) control on your TV. Your TV assumes because you have turned it off that the input devices are no longer needed so tells the box to turn off.
My Panasonic TV has the option to disable cec power control on any input, which is how the cec spec should have been in the first place.
There are two easy solutions.
1 Turn off Simplink on your TV.
2 Disable cec on your hdr 1000S hdmi cable by a simple adaptor

ModeratorWelcome to our Forum

According to the manual (if I am reading the right one) there is a simplink button on the remote, pressing this should display a menu on TV, using <> I to toggle function on/off and press ok to save.

InactiveSadly no, can’t get to Simplink, might try the adaptor if it would work & no Simplink button on remote

InactiveScared to say it in case it doesn’t last but without any further adjustments since the problem it’s suddenly working perfectly. Either there are good gremlins about or perhaps it’s picked up an update?

InactiveUpdate is that it went back to it’s bad old ways but I got an Amazon/Lindy no 41232 HDMI F/M CEC Less Adaptor which is male & female ended & sinply plug in on the HDMI line. There is no connection on pin 13 hence ir resolves the issues. Hope this helps someone else also & Humax now seem to at least recognise now there are issues.

ParticipantThe Humax is doing what it’s supposed to do, in respect of this there is no issue. The issue here is the cec control spec and the fact that there is apparently no way to turn it off on your TV. This will make the TV pretty unusable with all sorts of other kit that has CEC control capability.
Out of interest why do you need your box to be booted if the TV is off ?

InactiveThat’s all fine & unless Humax stays on I can’t get the signal to the second tv

Do you mean you have a modulator or some other way to send the video/audio to another TV ? If so that’s one of the screw ups that was made when the cec control spec was created. The other common one is listening to the radio using a AV amp, you turn on the TV so you can select the radio channel you want to listen to and then turn it off – result no radio

Given the known issues with cec it’s hard to imagine there is no way to disable it on your TV (did you ask LG ?)

InactiveYup, having had several comms. with Humax & LG, I’ve found LG offered truly superb customer support though sadly, apart from the adaptor that you suggested (& works fine)there is no way to turn off Simplink.
Yes, as per my other post (r/e Freeview/Freesat), I’ve a Triax Tri Link which is terrific & connecting/disconnectingit makes absolutely no difference to CEC functionality.
Personally, having had no such ptoblems before I think it’s a specific Humax CEC handshake issue.

InactiveI have an HDR1000S and I can watch the box in the kitchen and the bedroom, won’t go into how. I found that if I switch my Sony KDL 32 4000 TV off with the remote, the box goes off as well but if I use the power button on top of the TV, the box stays on.
I also have Philips Remote Control Extenders and an extra remote, bought from Amazon for £20, which I leave upstairs in the bedroom.
I originally put this system in, in year 2000 to be able to watch my VHS video Recorder around the house but it is still serving me well with the Humax Box. The Humax Box in the lounge connects to the Sony 32inch TV via HDMI but I also connect the scart to my VHS video recorder. Using an extra coax cable from the lounge to the loft, where the aerial amp is, I transmit an analogue channel, from the VHS Recorder, alongside the normal signals, if I want to watch in the kitchen or the bedroom, I just have to switch the TV to analogue and on a 26 inch in the kitchen and a 20 inch in the bedroom, it doesn’t degrade the picture much. The Freeview on the TVs works normally with this system. It is really useful. My old Humax 9300T didn’t switch off with the Sony TV but this HDR1000S does if I use the TV remote to switch off. try turning the power switch on your TV instead of the remote.

InactiveThx Ozzy, all good stuff. I had tried the tv off vao unit rather than remote but just the same. The HDMI adaptor is the answer for me

My daughter has a Panasonic TV and a Onkyo AV receiver. With CEC enabled on the TV, turning off the TV turns off the amplifier. This means that you cant listen to the radio or play CD’s.
Have you in fact got any other kit that has CEC control built in.
The Humax box works like any other cec peripheral.
