InactiveWe have 3 month old HDR1000S and all was well until Friday. Trying to change channel, the screen froze and remote was unresponsive. After about 2 minutes the channel changed by itself. Since friday the time is getting longer between its “self-changing”. Called Humax help and tried everything they suggested – nothing works. Any ideas?

ModeratorWelcome to the Forum

Have you tried:
1. The 2580 trick see FAQ
2. Switching off mains power for a few minutes

InactiveThanks Barry I tried the 2580 but could only key in 258 before getting a “no channel” notice. The only way we can change channels at the moment is selecting the channel we want, switching off the power for 5 minutes, switching on and waiting for any time up to 15 minutes for the new channel!

ModeratorIgnore what it says on screen just type in 2580 and wait as per FAQ.
Other options:
HDD clean up, and if all else fails you could try a reformat, but I would wait until you have watched all recordings before taking that step.

Ok, done that – still no difference, tried to change channel afterwards and got the now/next banner with channel number but blank in both boxes under the now/next words as before and channel eventually changed after several minutes. Is an HDD clean up the same as restoring the factory settings as we’ve done that several times following the Humax help line instructions.
Getting really fed up with this box – think we’re going back to Sky!

ModeratorHDD clean up is via:
Settings
System Settings
Storage
Hdd
Start Disc Clean Up
Then password default is 0000

InactiveI have had this problem (unit two months old)
Left it powered off overnight and so far it is working again.
Will try 2580 next time.

InactiveThanks Barry – have just set it all in motion and is now “processing” – suppose I leave it until it’s finished?

ModeratorIs your unit Lan connected if so you could try disconnecting that and see what happens, running out of deas as you might have guessed.
As a matter of interest is your unit 500GB or 1TB?
February 25, 2013 at 9:03 pm #42452Anonymous
InactiveIt’s a 500GB. The LAN is connected and is running correctly we think as we have another box connected upstairs which is ok. In any case we will give your suggestion a try as soon as this freezing weather gets better! Can well understand you running out of ideas. Do you think it could be a faulty Humax box?

InactiveEUREKA!!!
Got up this morning, switched on and would you believe it, everything is back working (apart from having lost all recordings – small price to pay!)!!! Can’t believe it and have no idea how it happened but am not complaining
Think the threat of re-installing Sky probably helped ha! ha!Anyway, thanks to everyone on the forum who helped. I’m still not convinced by something that appears to “self-help” at will but will give Humax another chance. Happy viewing everyone!

InactiveHi Jennyb1,
I have seen this before on my unit. I thought it was the remote at first, but it feel as if the unit is doing something. Does it only happen certain times of day ? To be honset it just went after a few hours

InactiveThe only way we can change channels now is to re-format each day which lasts about 4 hours before we have to do it again. Of course, this means we can’t keep any recordings which kind of defeats the object of having an HD+ box. There seems to be a software problem which kicks in when a certain capacity is reached on the disc but how to cure it? I have no idea!! To say we are disappointed with Humax is an understatement!!
