The hardware continues to perform very well
and my recordings library is still expanding.
Alas, the software is losing so many core features
that the platform is now basic. To put it mildly.
Remote recording: gone.
Showcase: gone.
Search (!!!!): gone.
Catch up: basic but still hanging on.
Humax apps: no comment.
Other features: basic.
My question is this: If I upgrade my Freesat hardware,
can I bring my precious recordings with me? I think
I already know the answer but thought I’d turn to the
forum.

I have anissue with my free sat box. iPlayer will not load from the on demand menu.
I have discovered a workaround.
The green and red buttons can still be used to enter the iPlayer when watching a BBC program.
My suggestion is to keep your current PVR to use as just a PVT. As for streaming services you can do worse than add a Chromecast dongle or Firestick give you all you had before plus much, much more. I have a Chromecast dongle which as well as all the usual built in services lets me cast from just about anywhere on the internet using my phone. Not sure how flexible a Firestick is in this respect.
Personally, I am mainly now using my old PVR to record programmes from the commercial channels so I can skip ads etc. For everything else I am mostly using the streaming services whether for live, chase-play or catch-up.
