InactiveI am trying to use an Aura box in a motorhome. When the aerial is plugged into the TV I get 90% signal strength and 90%+ signal quality when parked at home.
If I plug the aerial cable into the aura box then to the tv the tv’s signal drops by a few % but pictures are fine.
When I try and do a channel search on the Aura via the menu it goes to a black page then back to the menu. Same with signal test, just black page then back to the menu.
I tested the aura indoors on my roof aerial and it tuned fine no problem.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Would a factory reset sort it or is there something I am missing?
Thanks for any help.

What is the Signal Strength and signal quality reported by the Aura?

Thanks for the reply.
That’s part of the problem, when I try and access the signal menu or the channel scan menu I just get a blank screen then it goes back to the menu.
I tried a reboot late last night and then I regained live tv and the signal strength and channel scan menu worked again.
I can now see signal strength at about 90% and quality at between 80 and 90%.
I wonder if it was just the apps getting in a muddle and the aura thinking an app was running so it wouldn’t show live tv and the signal and tuning menus. I saw a youtube vid on the live tv screen being black and restarting apps and I wonder if it was something to do with that as I had been testing apps but I had rebooted.
It’s all a bit weird, I was hoping the Aura would be fairly smooth like our one at home. I’m hoping that I will be good to have a single device that I can use for live tv, recording, apps and putting my ripped dvd’s on for when we are away.
Thanks for any help.

I missed this the first time; what aerial are you using to feed the Aura?

It’s a directional one with a booster on the roof of the motorhome. It’s pointing at the local transmitter and giving a decent signal on the TV. TV reports about 90% strength and 80 to 90% quality, I use same cable to then plug into the aura.

InactiveI think I may have found the issue. When I have finished using the aura I press the power button on the remote then power it off via the power plug!
It seems like it doesn’t like this and when switched back on won’t show live tv until it’s rebooted!
Having looked into powering the aura down it seems like holding the power off button on the remote gives a better shutdown menu. What I can’t seem to find is a way to shut it completely down so the hard drive isn’t spinning.
It’s not surprising that Humax didn’t provide a complete shutdown menu item as then it wouldn’t record anything.
So I think it’s an operator/use case issue and I probably shouldn’t be using it the way I am.
If I keep it on standby (not deep sleep) then it seems fine, plus I can ftp to it to copy my dvd’s over and even use vlc to watch sd recordings. Which is good for me.
Thanks very much for your help.

InactivePress and hold the power button on the remote control for a few seconds.
You should then get a dialogue asking if you want to Shut Down. Select Yes.
The Aura will now power down, after several minutes it will completely power down
and the LED on the front will go off. Be patient as I have seen it rake as much as 20 minutes for the light to go out.
If recordings have scheduled to take place while the Aura is in this powered down state it will wake and perform the recordings.

Thanks for that, I had found the extra power down menu but didn’t realised that it might take so long to shutdown completely. Good to know. Cheers.
