InactiveI don’t view these channels often but noticed recently they just show as scrambled or unavailable. From my own searching it seems the frequencies were changed, is there anyway to update the box? I’ve tried the retune option, it goes through the motions but makes no difference.
It is an old unit the diagnostic page says “update Date 27 Jul 2012”
When checked there are no new software updates available.
Humax Foxsat-HDR
Software ver. HPRSFCI 1.00.21
Loader U 7.53
System ID 3768.0000
thanks

InactiveUsing 28.2E Sat in UK and we have the exact same issue with our old Humax Foxsat-hdr (July 2012, HPRSFCI 1.00.21, U7.53). Symptoms started within the last week or so. Selecting channel names starting with “U&” (156-160) just gives “The channel is scrambled or currently not available”. All other channels seem fine. Tried re-tuning the box and it find 147 channels including those “U&” channels and says signal strength is around 100% but you cannot view any of those starting “U&”. I did also notice the guide’s times were completely wrong as well but after a few days that seems to have sorted itself out. I haven’t tried a factory reset, as yet.

InactiveThe U branded channels made a change to the way their programmes are encoded about a month ago (they were MPEG-2, now MPEG-4).
A rescan alone doesn’t fix this, but one way to re-establish them is to delete the affected channels and then rescan.
Not in front of my set up at the moment, but the steps are something like this.
Menu, Edit channels, Edit Channel List
Locate all the ‘U&…..’ channels and delete them.
Save the changes.
Menu, Set up, Freesat tune
Any scheduled recordings on the U& channels will need to be reapplied.

InactiveThanks very much Dino. I’ll give that a go and post the results here.

InactiveBrilliant advice Dino!!
Removing the channel names starting with “U&” and then re-tuning worked perfectly. Saved us spending £££s on a new Freesat box or replacing the Panasonic plasma TV with modern ‘smart’ TV – with all the privacy issues associated with that 😉

InactiveThanks Dino, this has also worked for me.
Sorry for the late reply, I had the ‘notify me of follow up posts via email’ checked but haven’t received any emails and don’t login frequently.
All the best
John

InactiveThe ‘Legend’ and ‘True Crime’ channel groups and Blaze seem to have changed encoding method recently. As with the U&…. channels the change may confuse the foxsat and require similar treatment.

InactiveI did notice Blaze had also changed to M-PEG 4 delete/ rescan fixed that.
Thanks for info on the other channels.

InactiveThank you so much for the tip about deleting the offending channel…in my case it was just Blaze. After a rescan it is now working fine.

InactiveThanks Dino, this worked for me too

InactiveHi from France. Yes, this fix worked for me here as well but only for a while (a month-ish) and now same situation, except the edit/rescan no longer works.
It’s very hot here, can that be a problem for the system, especially the lnb?

InactiveI doubt it is the same problem. This is thread refers to a very specific issue and as far as I am aware the channels reported have not changed their encoding since April.
All the U&… channels are still working for me and have been since I deleted them and retuned in April. I never bothered doing the delete and retune for the Blaze, True Crime and Legend channels because I don’t watch them. I just checked some of them and they were indeed showing ‘Scrambled or Unavailable’.
As an experiment, I just deleted Legend (161) and then did a Freesat retune. Legend (161) is now working.
Extreme temperature can accelerate failure of electronic devices but electronic components can just fail even in ‘normal’ ambient temperature conditions.
