InactiveI just bought a Humax 9300T on Ebay for a friend who already owns one, but it has failed. I plugged the antenna lead into Antenna In, but the message on the screen is No Signal. The antenna has just been replaced (the reason the old Humax stopped working was because water came down the aerial lead from the roof and got in the Humax) and when I plug it directly into the TV, it works fine. The old Humax worked fine with the antenna lead plugged into it and a SCART cable to the TV, which is how the new one is also wired up. Is there a setting I need to make on the Humax for the antenna signal to be received? Thanks.

Have you done an automatic channel search?

InactiveAre there options on how the 9300T connects to a TV? If yes then does scart need to set as the chosen option? Also double check that you have not connected to the RF out. Humax have been known to change the RF layout on the same model before.

InactiveThanks guys.Martin: I didn’t do a channel search because it came straight up with BBC1. I think the previous owners probably left the channels on it that they had. Trog: there are 2 SCART sockets on the TV and they come up as AV1 and AV2 in the source options. Her old Humax is still connected to AV1 because it still has stuff on it she wants to watch and the playback still works. So I connected the new Humax to AV2, which is where I get the No Signal message. Don’t think it’s a problem with the input as such because it comes up with BBC1 ok, it just doesn’t get the signal for it from the antenna. It’s definitely in the Antenna in socket.

InactiveBy the way, I put the antenna in the back of the old Humax just to see what would happen and I get the same message. No Signal.

Yes the previous owners probably did leave the channels on it that worked for them but if they were receiving from a different transmitter, then you need to do a retune.

InactiveThat’s possible, Martin. I’ll give it a try. Do you know where the retune/station scan command is located? Is it something you get to via Menu on the remote? Thanks!

Press the Menu Button> select Installation> Enter the PIN which defaults to 0000> select Automatic Search.

InactiveThanks, Martin. We did indeed get about 200 channels and the Humax now works as a set top box through which she can watch TV. But another problem showed up: for some reason, even though the aerial installer who installed the new antenna last week aimed the aerial at the BBC South transmitter, the Humax chose BBC London. The signal for BBC1 and BBC2 is therefore “Weak or No Signal”. How do I manually retune it to BBC South? I watched a Humax video on YouTube where it talked about erasing the memory and then retuning, but gave no instructions for this. Can you help? Thanks.

Try reading this old post by user Biggles https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/week-old-9300t-and-epg-wont-fill-up-for-week#post-7097
To get the channel number you will need go to https://www.freeview.co.uk/freeview-channel-checker input your post code and house number, then click on the Check button. On the next screen it will tell you how many channels are available but to get the details you need click on the “Detailed Transmitter View” link. This will give a list of possible transmitters. Decide which one you want to use and then from the table you want to record the multiplex channel number from the column headed by a white N on a black circle for each of the multiplexes (BBC A, D3&4, BBC B, SDN, ARQ A, ARQ
; there may be other local multiplexes. Then follow the Biggles tuning instructions from the above link.

InactiveI’ve been meaning to update my instructions for a while, in fact got a draft nearly completed, but thought nobody would be interested these days.

InactiveOk, all done! It was a bit of a battle, but Martin’s input helped, as did Biggles’ old set of instructions (although the prompts at Freeview are a bit different now). One small word of warning: I could not get the table with the numbers for the transmitter I wanted to use on my phone. The Freeview site only displayed them in a table on my laptop. But once I had them (there were 6 of them) and searched stations using each of them, we had 133 stations and she’s very happy to have BBC1 South back. (The London (Crystal Palace) signal was very choppy and much weaker than Hannington. No idea why the Humax chose it in the automatic search.) So many thanks to all.

Ok, all done!
It is a bit challenging the first time but once you understand the process it gets much easier. I am really pleased that you got things to work the way you wanted.
