Hi. Apologies if this is a topic which has already been covered, but I can’t find anything relevant on the forum.

I’m trying to archive some recordings from a PVR-9300T to my PC, but with no success. I’ve removed the HDD from the 9300T and connected it via a standard SATA to USB adapter. The PC is a 64bit W10 laptop, though I’ve also tried an old 32bit XP machine with exactly the same results. I’m logged in as administrator and for good measure I run humaxrw as administrator, but it returns “Partition table: Permission denied” (though looking through the forums it seems that there’s an error in the mappings of error messages, so I suspect this isn’t a permissions problem). Running humaxrw in recovery mode gives the same response. The HumaxRW_Front-End and HummyReadFiles094 both report that they can’t find a Humax HDD. Humaxcheck reports “Writes to the Humax disk are disabled – Partition table: Permission denied”. Windows Disk Manager and FS Driver (which I tried in desperation) both see the disk but report “No Media” (as expected for a proprietary file system).

The HDD is OK – I’ve put it back in the 9300T and it works fine – and I’ve checked the USB adapter on another drive and it’s OK. The PCs are seeing the drive, and I should have the permissions needed. Some posts I’ve come across talk about cable mods (son-t?), but it’s a standard Western Digital 320GB drive, so I can’t believe that this is a problem. Has there been a change in the format of 9300T drives since humaxrw1.15??

Any help or suggestions gratefully received!

Long time since I have used humaxrw but there certainly hasn’t been any change to the format of 9300T drives. What parameters are you using on the command line?

I used HumaxRW to successfully extract the recordings from my 9200 disk after file system corruption, but it was a long time ago. I can’t remember all the details but I was using Linux Mint 64bit to start with and having no success, I then tried a 32bit Linux Mint and it worked no problem. Due to the 64bit problem with Linux I then tried Windows 10 64bit and that worked too so I assumed Windows 64bit can accommodate 32bit programs better/without modification than Linux 64bit. However, having another go with Linux Mint 64bit I found that it now worked but I’ve no idea why. I tried to analyse what was different from my first attempt with Linux 64bit but never got to the bottom of it. Sorry I can’t be of any real help other than to say HumaxRW did work on Windows 10 64bit.

Hi, I have literally just been doing the same as dougc. I have downloaded humaxrw and am running it in a cmd window prompt with Administrator privileges under Win10 and I am able to access my HD from my PVR-9300T

I had to play around with the physical device id to work out which device it was, in my case it was physical device 3 as I already have 3 HDs in my PC & the indexing starts from 0.

I connected my 9300T HDD via HDD docking bay & USB cable.

Here’s a screenshot of what I get. As you can see, I am going back 16 years! Anyway, hope this helps ?

Thanks for the quick responses. I've attached a screenshot of my attempts and as you can see I'm doing exactly the same as gingerstuie but get "Permission Denied" (though I believe error mappings may not be correct). I'm running humaxrw in admin mode, and 1: is the drive which pops up in Disk Management when I plug in the HDD. Disk Management reports that the disc is working properly and has No Media, which I assume is what's expected.

I've tried the HumaxRW_Front-End and HummyReadFiles094 and both report that they can’t find a Humax HDD. It seems that the system is finding the drive OK, but not managing to identify it as a Humax HDD.

    I'm at a loss!

The command line looks correct to me. My only thought is that it is a permissions problem; can you describe how you are running as administrator?

Many thanks to all of you who have responded so promptly. I’m very impressed.

I think I’ve found the problem, and that is that my 9300T has a 3.5″ HDD rather than 2.5″, and the larger drives need a 12v supply which is not available on most USB to SATA adapters. (Possibly explains the very quiet running of the disk!) Hey Ho! Looks like I either need to get a soldering iron out, or give up on trying to access the HDD.

    Thanks again….

An adapter with a 12V power supply on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315241416522?

Thanks Martin. I now have an adapter with 12v, and no-one will be surprised to hear that humaxrw now works perfectly! Apologies for wasting people’s time with this post – a silly mistake, but I’ve used the adapter many times over the years and it never occurred that a 3.5HDD might be different!

    Thanks for the support….
