I’ve been a longtime user of an FVP-5000T which unfortunately appears to be starting to fail so I’ve recieved a 2TB Aura as a gift. Having had a (very) quick look through this forum it seems that there are many problems with this box. Could I beg some of your time and ask for a list of current known issues, and any fixes/workarounds where appropriate, as a starting point.

I’ve just stored mine away and bought a new android tv and new EE TV Pro 4K Freeview Set Top Box YouView 1TB that has 4 tuners and in 3 months has never crashed failed to record or froze up.

The ee boxes are available new on Ebay all legit and the apps preinstalled all work except internet tv.

100 quid for the box.

My advice would be just use it as a PVR and delete or disable all the streaming apps, after doing this mine became stable and reliable, I use streaming sticks/boxes for this purpose.

This leaves the bugs. One can be worked around, when you start to watch a recording look at the timeline if it stays at 00:00 and does not start counting stop and restart the recording, if you don’t and pause it will jump to the start. Second you just have to live with sometimes it doesn’t remembering where you left off if you part watch a recording then come back to it later.

I only use PVRs as PVRs. As I said, I’ve put the Aura into storage (for now) and intend on swapping the HDD for an SSD in my old FVP-5000T (separate post elsewhere on forum). As I understand it there’s a major update coming for the Aura. I’ll keep an eye on the forums to see how that works out, and if it looks like there are improvements, then maybe I’ll unbox again and give it a try. THanks for the advice though.

Did you actually give the Aura a chance or just gone by the comments on here?

I purchased my Aura shortly after it was released and currently apart from a couple of niggles I seem to be one of the lucky ones who has got a good one and have no major complaints. It is a far superior PVR to the 5000 IMHO and the interface is so much faster than the sluggish one on the 5000.

My usage, apart from the standard PVR side also includes heavy Plex and YouTube usage and for those things it performs brilliantly.

Others will disagree, but I have no real complaints. My friends 5000 recently packed up and she is thrilled with her new Aura I set up for her, so I am not the only one who is happy.

Take into account that most users don’t have problems. The complainants are in the minority. I’ve had one since shortly after launch, use it daily and don’t have issues with it.

As you already have the box what’s stopping you from connecting it up and trying it?
