Hummie went bonkers, as I tried to delete files. Deleted all. Went dead, ie ‘no signal’ for 2 days. Then all seemed ok, all files there, and pvr pie chart at 75%.

But all files had a screen header, ‘failed due to loss of power’. Tried several files, no playback as all were 00:00:00 length. ( Including files I know I have played before.).

Tried a full reset today. It’s stuck on the Terms and Conditions page, which is empty; no clickable buttons.

    What do I do?

Reluctant to just junk it. ( 2 year old).

I have also had this after a Factory Reset, the way I have got round this is to power off box using remote and switch off at mains input. Then connect up an active LAN cable to box and re-power box on – in my case it went back through Factory Reset process using LAN rather than Wireless and Terms and Conditions page was not an issue as it came up as expected. After you have completed process you can then disconnect LAN cable and set-up Wireless LAN.

Thanks for that. Awaiting longer LAN cable (sat).

Have an allied and weird upset.

I have a Humax 4000 that sits in parallel with the 5000t.

When I was attempting to reset the 5000t, it affected the 4000,even though it was powered down. It too had moved through the full factory reset. When I looked at it yesterday it was at the WiFi/LAN page. Realising it was past the point of no return I went through the full reset.

It seemed to be ok and responsive, so I set it a simple recording task. This am checked recording, supposedly there. But unplayable as off 00:00:00 duration! Tried another shortly thereafter, same result. It worked ok before the reset. Checked the tuners. Tuner 1 and 3 0%, tuner 2 81%. It wouldn’t let me check the HDD.

What is going on? And how do I get it to work?

Normally it is Tuner 1 that has signal strength – mine is sitting @ 100% and Tuner 2 & 3 are at 0%. If the Storage option is blanked out then the unit cannot see the HDD, hence why your recording is not working. If this is the case, either the HDD has gone defective or more likely the m/c has developed an issue (this fault is quite common in Humax boxes).

Thanks for reply. M/c ? Don’t get that.

If it this and it is common surely there must be a solution?

Any help gratefully received, as without a solution I may have at least one, possibly 2 boxes to junk. Plus extra expense of replacing at least one!

( ? 80% at tuner 2 possibly down to atmospherics? Had windspeed today of 40-50mph.).

By m/c I mean machine or unit.

Yes, you have the option of trying to blow hot air at it from either a hot air gun or hairdryer or completely strip down the unit and place the PCB in the oven!

Basically over time (and heat), some of the connections between the die and the substrate go open circuit (similar to old XBox issue), and it is a case of trying to re-make them.

If you are only watching one channel and not recording another then only one tuner is needed.

If you are watching for example BBC1HD Tuner one will be in operation.

If at the same time you are recording another programme/ channel broadcast on a different multiplex Dave for example Tuner 2 will be activated.

And again if you are recording another programme/ channel broadcast on a different multiplex such as ITV3 then Tuner 3 will then be activated.
