I’ve had my Aura since August 2023 and set up and operation was good until I started getting a black screen but with sound approximately once a week when watching Freeview. The only thing that will restore the picture is if I unplug the device, wait a few seconds and then re plug. Is this a device fault, a software error, an HDMI cable fault or something else?

It is a software error and it affects some users more than others. There is one thing you could try to avoid needing to power cycle; you might want to watch this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbT1XRRfWXE It helps in some cases.
