My HDR1100S has recently started playing up and I wondered if anyone else has experienced something similar (I’ve hunted through the forum but haven’t spotted anything…)

The remote control will now only operate the box if it’s held (literally) within a few cm of the sensor on the box.

It’s definitely not the handset – after trying all the new battery/reset suggestions here, I tried setting up my Logitech Harmony remote to control the box – and this also needs to be held incredibly close to the box.

I’ve powered down the box for some hours, to no avail. There is no visible obstruction behind the plastic window where the sensor lives (no bug or beetle is blocking the view).

My thought is that it must be a component failure in the IR sensor circuit – if anyone’s fixed a similar problem before, please let me know how
